'Anybody know what would cause brake dust to be 3 times thicker on both passenger side wheels than it is on the driver's side wheels?????:shrug

My GT isn't pulling to EITHER side ...'brakes don't seem to be dragging at all ... yet I've found the above weird 'dust situation.

'Beat's the heck outta me...

The crown of the road washes many cars brake dust to the passenger side in the US, the vacuum created by the car stirs this or even the car in front of you creates the dust stir on the passenger side......I just made that up:wink

But as I have been wiping down the car from a morning run, I do notice the same thing. It's like 30% more.

But I also noticed it on my Z06. I have been using those "Grab It dust cloths to wipe off the wheels...BTW they work good for a light run's dust.....I used clean cloths on both sides. Both the Vette and the GT had more dust on the passenger side.

I can't tell you why, but the right side always wears more. Been like that forever. That is why when you are checking your brake pads, you look at the right front - it will wear more than the left front.

Maybe

If you are applying the brake pedal more often when turning left, the right side wheels will be rotating faster at those moments and perhaps use up a bit more of the pads. Never really thought about it that way, but why not?

My guess is he's pressing more on the right side of the brake pedal...

Bony was very close to the right answer - magnetism.
Surprised the engineers didn't know this - goes with the right hand thumb rule

Sooooooooooo, basically nunna youz guys gots any better handle on it than I duz ...'zat about it?:biggrin (global warming, 417 miles of constant lefts, magnetism, equatorial shifts, and all the rest would seem to prove my point!:slap )

Anyway, while we're on the subject, isn't there a "spray on" product one can coat wheels with that allows one to simply HOSE OFF brake dust rather than having to wipe it off every nook & cranny? I know I saw an ad for stuff like that somewhere once.

(Oh, great. Here it comes. I pbly shudda knowed gooder than tuh ask...:frown )

Brake Dust

Empty Pockets - it seems odd that you have a brake dust problem.

After all you have 417 miles of backing your GT in and out of the garage.

As was mentioned Griot's brake dust cleaner works well. Next time you have the wheels off the GT put a couple of coats of Wheel Wax on them. It'll make the cleaning process much easier.

See Ya Saturday.
