Soooooo, if one has to replace the tires AND wheels on a Veyron every "X" number of miles, or "Y" number of 200 mph+ runs, I assume BOTH are replaced after EACH RUN made by this thing??????!!!

From the look of the flame coming out the back he only got into it a few times to get what he did. I guess a crazier driver could up the record at will.

I was going to make the same observation Silverbullit made. The driver (if that was who the video interviewed) overstated his (or the car drivers) actual actions. The clouds of white "smoke" at the starting line for staging were typical jet car show effects. Dump fuel into the afterburner (AB) except do not engage the ignition source except occasionally to give the big bursts of flame/sound. Sounds and looks cool.
Really for the first half of the run it looked rather unremarkable. Even slow to me. The driver did sporatically engage a lit AB toward the end of the run but it did not appear to be on for any continuous amount of time. The functionng AB is evident in the video when you see the ball of flame out the back of the engine. Otherwise just plane old regular thrust from the engine.
No question the car is fast and the mile speed speaks for itself. But just think if he had the AB on continuously for the last half or even last one-quarter of the mile. Probably would have taken off.....

...or come apart! or BOTH! And I'm bettin' that's why the 'burner wasn't on continually.
'May also have had something to do with the limited shutdown area/stopping room.
