Which Nardo car was the fastest?

The yellow GT known as the "Nardo Car" was one of two GTs flogged on the Nardo Ring as part of Ford's performance testing. This placard claims the yellow car was the one that hit the top speed of 211.89 mph. Yet, I have seen published elsewhere that it was the other car that hit top speed.

In the interest of historical accuracy, which Nardo GT achieved 211.89 mph?

If he doesn't see the above, P.M. "Nardo" (Chris) and ask him...or ask GTJoey. Either one would know.

PM Mark McGowan. He drove the car at Nardo.

I thought I remember at rally 3 in Las Vegas, Mark Mcgowan getting up and talking about the yellow car just before it went up for auction when Chris bought it.

Myself and Specracer got to drive and give thrill rides at Las Vegas Motor speedway in the Nardo car!I remember thinking I’m not getting out of it till they kick me out!Mark came up to me after about an hour and a half and said give me my car back! That was first time we met! That was quite a day in my life!

See post #12 here: http://www.fordgtforum.com/forums/showthread.php?27896-Buying-A-Used-GT/page2&highlight=museum

The Silver car in the Model T museum (aka Piqette museum) is CP15 for those who do not know. This is the car that we got to 211.89 mph while testing in Nardo.

Thanks for the link, Rex. I didn't know that. Per Mark in a subsequent post:

The yellow GT, PB1-1 got to 209.?? And would have gotten to 211.89 (red line in 5th gear) but the car was shipped to Germany mid-way into testing at Nardo. The key to the top speed was it got cold (air temp of 50 deg F) the last day of testing which yield big horse power and the top speed.

ok. So there is a slight inaccuracy in the history of PB1-1.

Driving the PB-1 in Vegas was one of my all time rally highlights!! WHAT AN HONOR!!

Here is a crappy pic of the silver car as she sits at Piquette. Needed to be partially disassembled to fit up the elevator.

So Silver is the fastest color.

Does anybody know if these are pictures of CP15 at Nardo?

I now hope that Frank understands that red is not the fastest color! We can now put that topic to sleep
thank God!
Dr. Frank time to buy a silver car!

Aaaaaaaaaah, but, Ron, there's one little factoid you've failed to take into account. The silver and yellow cars were the only ones on hand for the occasion. Had there been a BLUE/WHITE available as well, we'd now know just how much higher the top speed could have been on that day. As it stands now, all we know is that silver is faster than yellow.

Waldo, yes, those are from Nardo and are CP-15, I have those same pix.

Ford GT _ 2013.jpg

This was actually the fastest GT, held back should the slower silver and yellow cars proved unable to certify. :biggrin

VERY FUNNY !
You red car guys sure stick together! Insecure I suppose!
Very nice picture though!

Here's my video of when Chris bought the yellow car at the Rally 3 auction. Before the bidding started, Jamal noted that it was the first car to certify to 209 mph. Rich also added some build info midway through the bidding. Lots of familiar faces!

Thanks for posting - haven´t seen it before but it brought back great memories. I see that I got so frustrated with the slow bidding proces that I had to go to the bar to get a refill :rofl:facepalm:

Thanks before my time here but did see many friends.
