How do these upgrades: Turbo's...affect the original vehicle warranty?
Thanks
Rob

GONE, you become the warranty.

I would think that the only upgrade items that keep it in tact is cat back muffler, shifter, maybe some suspension work (shocks), wheels and tires, and even then all of that it is some what up to the service writer / manager.

many other posts on this topic. they maybe helpful

regards

Well, if you opt for an upgrade and then develop a problem, can you still have it serviced at your local Ford dealer?

how about this - Ford will not/does not have an extended warranty available, for sale, on the Ford GT!! I wrote a letter to Mr. Ford telling him I think it stinks that Ford will not write an extended warranty on the car, at any price! :thumbsdow

I have yet to hear back from him..............

Stephen, have you done any more investigation on extended warranties? two of my buddies with GTs have had some scary problems, one got a new transmission this week and the Ford Dealer's price was $18,000!!!! My other friend's calipers all developed hairline cracks at the drill holes and Ford replaced them i think.

My warranty expires may of 2008 so an extension would be nice. Cotty

Basically if your "upgrade" cause some type of system failure then you pay. If it is not related then your warranty is still in tact.

ie: twin turbo / blown head gasket = you pay
twin turbo / water pump fails = Ford pays

If your twin turbo car has a dead power window motor, I suspect Ford would cover it....I'd be shocked if a water pump would be covered on a modified motor, despite the fact that it probably has less load on it than a stock supercharged car. Ford would never agree to pull the motor under warranty on a car that has extensive mods.

According to the courts if the mod didn't cause the damage... thent he warranty is still in affect

The dealership has to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the aftermarket part in question is what caused the failure. A significant power addition to any vehicle would void the drivetrain warranty. Whipple blowers, twin turbo kits. Maybe even some pulleys. Even though the GT comes with forced induction and comes with a VERY well built motor. Switching to another form of forced induction or increasing the amount of boost will void your warranty.
