I wonder if anyone contemplated on doing the vertical door conversion. Wouldn't this solve the ingress/egress problem? If enough of us pull together, we maybe able to get a decent vertical system developed. Please let me know what you think. Thanks.

HeritageBruce,

It's real late, 2:40 am, I'm about ready to get horizontal. :rofl :lol

So I'll leave the verticle for others. :banana

Why do you like the Heritage? (As I do.)

Bruce,

that was taken on (by me) some time ago. There is a company LSD doors than make a doorhinge conversion to open regular, or vertical. Serious company, german TUEV engineering, reliable. Google them on the web. So you can still be cool and open regular if you have the space, or get in opening vertical if tightly parked in.

I am in contact with them. They , at times, said they had a GT and were developing the kit.
I'll check how far they are.

cheers

I checked with LSD on march 13th. Here is the reply:

We would like to thank you for inquiring about a LSD Doors, a division
of KW automotive North America.

LSD Doors is the first worldwide brand to offer a complete well
engineered program of vehicle-specific Lambo style door conversion kits;
ready to install, straight out of the box; established on several key
principles: Safety, unsurpassed quality, innovation and style.

Unfortunately at this time we do not have a door kit available
for the vehicle that you have listed. We do not have a date as to when
we will be doing R&D on the vehicle you listed but will inform you as
soon as the door kit becomes available.

Best regards,

www.verticaldoors.com listed this:

Strart a group buy for VerticalDoors

- We need (10) Orders for the same car, and same year.
- Each VerticalDoors.Com Kit will be $1,599.00 each

I am not a mathematician but $1,599 is quite a bit less than the price of the GTX1 site. I have a narrow garage and this will avoid lots of headache for me, not to mention being able to prevent from being blocked in while parked in public. I know, I know, I'm not suppose to park the car just about anywhere, but sometimes you just can't help it. Anyone interested???

It's something I'm definitely interested in doing, but after looking at their website pics it seems the openings are pretty tight to get in and out of. Maybe it's just me, but I think a system like the "butterfly" doors on the new Astons would give better access.

The idea has some appeal. However, I want to know why this company can do it so cheaply. Got to see a kit installed, got to understand how this mod might impact safety in a side crash. Why is this kit so cheap. I have seen
conversions that the ricer crowd has done, and most don't begin to meet my lowest expectations....

Bony is right, the conversions on the rice burners are pretty bad. they use pretty heavy gauge steel but the leverage factor is hard to beat. very kit car look and feel, not to mention the safety factor. :thumbsdow

I would be VERY reticent to do lambo doors using most of the people who make these kits. Genaddi may charge a lot, but I'd be comfortable with them doing it. I've seen some major hack job vertical doors over the years, and they were all "value" priced...

The problem we all have is that our cars are rare and there is no competition. No doubt that the Genaddi group GTX1 does quality work...but 12K?? How much is the cost of material vs. labor for this work? As there is no one else doing this level of work, I cannot help but wonder what would happen if the market offered us choices?

Sorry guys.... but anytime I see "Lambo doors" on anything other than a Lambo... I just snicker and keep on walkin'... thinkin' WTH is wrong with that owner...

I'd never consider something like that for my GT... If you can't get outta' the car, take that $12K and make your garage a little wider.

The conversions they show are typical 2 hinge, 1 latch doors. With the roof portion of our doors adding a bunch of complexity, I do not think $1600 will do it.
