Unique award for my 05 GT

Yesterday I drove the GT to a car show in Lake Oswego (OR) - a great show, about 250 cars of all types and ages. My car won an award, kind of a unique one. The organizers have an award given by "junior judges", 4-5 boys probably about 8-10 years old. They look at all the cars on display and pick the one they like the best. They chose my car for the following reasons:

Color RED (impartial verification that it really is the best color …)
Big wheels and tires
212 mph top speed
Ventilation holes in the seats

So I got a nice ribbon and the knowledge that it's not just big boys who like GTs.:biggrin

Cool award Vincent. When I brought my GT home for the first time last summer my then 4 year old son took one look at the GT and asked if I would someday give it to him. Up until that point my son had never shown any particular interest in cars.

Couple of weeks ago, at a rather large local, car show, my GT won:
Best Motor
Kids Choice
Two rather larger trophies. This show was to raise money for Down's Syndrome
This weekend, I went to a show for NY School for the Deaf, and the car won "Best in Show", the kids went wild for the car, they were signing so fast, too bad I couldn't understand. The car draws crowds everywhere, and it's an "instant winner" whether or not it gets the trophy!!!!

Roger, your car is beautiful.
Let me know when you are going to some more of the local shows and we can roll together.
Best,
Mark

Lots of times it's a "game time decision", only one I know I'm going to is the C&C in CT on 9/8
Besides no matter what you bring, the competition will be too difficult!!!!

That is great!!! It's awesome that others with a fresh look at things still think the car is cool for reasons we'd never thought of!!! Of course they're right but sometimes we can't see the forest for the trees.

I often let young admirers sit in the car and their parents take pictures, I can't believe the astonishment on their parts that I let them sit in the car.

I strongly believe in doing that.
It's "sharing" the history.

Way to go Vincent998! That must have been a real treat.

I also encourage "young admirers" to sit in the car and have their pictures taken. Just did it a few weeks back at the local C & C and I get as much joy seeing their excitement as they do. And every single time the youngsters and their parents are incredibly thankful.

We are truly blessed to be able to own, drive and share these incredible cars.

i do the same thing. my wife asked me why i would let little kids sit in my car. one day she was with me at a cruise and she couldn't get over the excitement/response from the kids and their parents, and me. she fully understands now.
i tell the kids that there are just a few rules. no sharp things in their pockets, no sticky things in their hands, to be very careful and they have to honk the horn.

Me too, encourage it all the time, many times they're posing in front of the car, I open the door and say why not take a picture with you in the drivers seat. Most times after gushing and thanks, I'm rewarded with a huge smile!! Love to share the joy!!!

If you want to add a little spice to letting kids in the car, as the kid climbs in tell the parent, "What do I care, it's not mine!"

I do this all the time. Really makes their day.

Sure makes me feel good to see the unbelievable smiles on their faces. And to hear them say " I can't wait to get home and tell everyone that I got sit in a Ford GT".

Wish I had the time to give them all a ride.

I've actually thought about getting in touch with the Make a Wish foundation or someone similar and offering rides to kids within their program.

We do the same thing at the local shows, we also hand out Matchbox or Hotwheels cars while they last. Word gets around.

Great story. Often, dad does not know what a GT is and I hear the children educating the father. The GT is still hot in car race video games!

I have had a standing offer for years with MAWF locally to have kids visit my place and get a ride in anything they would like. In keeping with the spirit of the offer, that's all I'll say about it.
