In your opinion, what is the world's ugliest car ever. Production or Prototype.

Pontiac Aztec

Gentlemen,

My vote goes to a car that actually made it into production. The Pontiac Aztec. The most amazing thing about this car is that the clowns in Pontiac management (I was a Pontiac Dealer who was supposed to try and sell this turd) didn't get fired. Never once, not a single time, during my 20 years as a GM dealer, did a single person get fired for incompetence. You could make a series of stupid decisions that would cost GM a billion dollars and they would not fire you. A top level Pontiac executive told me that in 30 years he had never fired anybody BUT.... he did transfer a really lousy manager to another department in GM once. You get what you are willing to put up with. As Pontiac sales sank into the cellar the same looser stylists kept giving us a series of different size Bat-mobiles. After the division was pretty much finished off, Pontiac did finally bring in some fresh blood who designed some good looking cars like the G6 and G8, but by then it was too late. RIP Pontiac.

Another GM winner!

Gentlemen,

And here's another gem that had dealers scratching their heads in disbelief. GM top brass put these beauty's into production in 1978, the 2 and 4 door Oldsmobile Cutlass FASTBACKS!!!!!! Yeah baby, who wouldn't want to be seen in one of these?

As repulsive as the Aztec is (and the Pacer, the Gremlin, the VW Thing, and the Fiat Multipla for that matter), it's DARNED HARD to top the Citroen 2CV in the "ugly" department. I'd say it's impossible. Sufferin' krymuny...

(Google the dang thing. :ack)

My vote is for the Aztec too. Two of my paralegals bought them. Despite the fact that I think they are a blight on the automotive landscape, they love them. One even bought all the camping junk offered by Pontiac. One has well over 100,000 miles and both have been reliable. Nevertheless, they still burn my eyes.

Nissan Joke, I mean Juke. then again Nissan is having a having a hard time with the "lets make a good looking car" thing. The GTR has front fender styling cues from my Freightliner.

You may be right. I'd completely forgotten about that slug...by design, I suspect. :willy:willy:willy

While I agree with both of Chip's GM choices, I have to add the current BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo. Someone in Munich was smoking a rope to approve that thing.
