Well, after reading just about every thread with the word "Whipple" in it over the past few months, I thought it might be nice to find out just how many cars have the big blower installed. May be useful to folks like myself who are ready to take the plunge...

I know DBK has recently started a modded vs stock poll....but this one could be an extension of that...

It would be great to have everyone respond with:

1) Name of installer/tuner
2) Tuning software used
3) Finish (polished/black/custom)
4) Dyno tune or generic tune
5) Pulley size/max boost
6) Fuel octane
7) Supporting mods (exhaust, MAFia, tires, etc)
8) Dyno results, preferably Dynojet with SAE correction, if possible
9) ET and (more importantly) trap speed, if anyone has been to the dragstrip.

Thanks in advance for your participation!

Hey, Doc, if you're interested to any great degree in 1/4 mile performance, you might want to look into Stillen's 3:90 gear set as well...

Just curious, what's your biggest concern over going to the Whipple?

Empty,

With the Whipple's prodigious torque, traction is the limiting factor...I can't imagine wanting a steeper gear. I'm hardly a drag racer...I would just take the car out to document/verify the dyno gains.

Paul,

No big concerns whatsoever, aside from blowing my mod budget on tires. :wink

Unlike with most other sportscars, there's really only one choice for a GT supercharger upgrade. I just think it would be great to have one thread that documents everyone's experience with the product.

Tire budget what's that :wink. I get about 6000 miles out mf my hoosiers out back. They make the car so much more fun especially once you add power like this.

There will be two new blowers in the spring using Eaton's new larger rotor setup. Stillen will be producing one. At the same pulley size as factory these blowers produced 18.5 psi instead of 12.

Do you know the displacement of the new Eaton's?

I'm told there will be two, but the one I looked at was 2.8 liters. I talked to some of the people at SVT and they were enthusiastic about the blower design, as it produced 801rwhp with a 2.5" pulley on a GT500 that did 441rwhp stock. Accufab produced 825hp and 695 lb/ft with a 2.75" pulley with this setup with a Ford GT motor on an engine dyno. The rotors are 6x4 instead of 5x3.

I talked to Kyle at Stillen and he said they were going to be using the lower end design with the intent of producing 800ish to the wheels for their race car. He said the crazier version would support over 1000hp. I would not personally use a supercharger to produce that power level in a street driven GT.

From what I have heard, 1000 hp with a blower on our motor with pump gas is a wet dream... source: Whipple.

It sounds the guts of the new blower are may be the same as the Kenny Bell unit.

As for a 1000 HP (RWHP) on a GT with a blower on pump gas, it is not a wet dream, it is a GRENADE!!!

Even 1000HP (crank) with race gas would be a stretch. The heat generated from the blower would heat the air temps very high, very fast, without an upgraded intercooler system and or water injection.

Hey what the hell skip the caution and water injection, 1000 HP can be easily reach via nitrous cooling!

Ah yes the chemical intercooling effect is a gem ! Output generally doubles IE 30hp nitrous shot results in 60whp ; 50 = 100whp

I would not assume pump gas for anything over 800rwhp.

That's why I'd never attempt some huge HP number with a supercharger. You want big, get Twins and be done with it.

I don't know if you're a Viper fan or not, but the Paxton add on supercharger has become one of the all time favorite Mods. They have proven themselves to be almost flawless, I think this will also be the legacy of the Whipple.

It has been suggested with some tweaks that Dustin has I will be putting down 800rwhp on 91octaine without risk of damage. Just waiting for him to call me to bring #1153 over to his shop. I will post the results...

I will NOT run race fuel on the street, it is difficult to find, takes the ability to use the car for touring.
