I am happy to share that our 2018 Ford GT Heritage Edition was delivered this weekend. Our family feels very honored to have been selected to own one of these very special cars. To be able to acquire one of the very exclusive 2018 Heritage cars that commemorate the 1967 LeMans win makes this even more special. Especially since Dan Gurney was a friend and hero of mine. My only sadness is that we lost him recently and I really wanted to show him my car and have him sign it. Regardless, I do plan to go by AAR this summer and see Evi, Justin and the Gurney team in hopes of getting a picture.
Many many thanks to the Ford Team for such a beautiful design, world-class performance and for making a car that probably makes no sense from a business case standpoint. Special thanks to the design team, Edsel II, Henry III, Raj, Jamal, DBK, Jim Farley, Jim Owens, Chip Gnassi Racing and so many others who have expressed their passion for automotive excellence into this machine that is one of the most desired vehicles of all time.
Also thanks to my GT friends from Houston who came out for the delivery including Ford's Number 1 brand ambassador, Tomy Hamon, Sanjay DrV8 as well as the team from Sterling McCall Ford in Houston and their rock star salesman, Paul Diamante who has been first class to work with throughout the process.
Honestly, when I got the email that I was selected to purchase the GT way back when I had no idea when I would be in a position to be able to buy it when the time came. Especially with 3 kids in college ) Then last year our home was flooded and destroyed from Hurricane Harvey. But God has blessed our family beyond measure and the timing of this delivery worked out just right as our business has done very well since the beginning of 2017. Especially our Ford aftermarket business.
One last thank you to the Ford GT "Grail Keeper" David Bannister. I dont get to talk to Dave very much as we are both busy and so many of you, his friends, keep him busy on a daily basis ) But I know Dave well enough and have spent enough time with him to know that his passion, persistence and relationships with his Ford friends probably had some influence as to whether or not this car was given the green light. That is just my guess and I think that I am right. And thus I want to give a big thanks to DBK.
One last thing, the details on this car are incredible. When I sat in my GT and noticed the #1 ghosted into the carbon door panel I was blown away. Cant wait to drive THE EAGLE after we get her covered from top to bottom with Expel paint protection.
Thanks for listening and wishing everyone a nice Sunday evening.
John
PS I apologize for the low quality pics. We do have some better pics and a video that we will share soon.
