Just received mine....looks great!! Thanks a million!
I have one more favor to ask. Shadowman, could you post a final listing of all the parts, other than this enclosure and the OEM subwoofer replacement pocket, that I will need to do this install. I have seen some of this on the other threads but I thought it would be nice to see the list with the appropriate size of the aluminum panel, size of bolts, etc.??
Thanks in advance! I just want to make sure that before I tear this thing apart I have all that I need.

Thanks! I know for some this would be intuitive...but for me, if I don't plan and have all the parts when I start, it will be a small disaster! Ha. Strike one for the technically challenged!:biggrin

UPDATE 12-04-06

Whoooooooosh ....... the last subwoofer enclosure was just labeled.

All of the remaining subwoofer enclosures are ready for FedEx. Because of the time it will morning before they are picked up and all are slated to arrive on or before Friday.

Here is the final list;

1. Gene Cassone
2. Jason Fontenot
3. Mad in NC
4. Kerry Peterson
5. ATM Empty
6. Chip Beck
7. Lee Mulcahey
8. Ed Kutch
9. GT Pilot
10. Jay aka GT Saver

I continue to share the wonderful comments with Ash; thank you folks.

As shared ACRJoe agreed to draft up the installation instructions as he went through the process after I completed it on this end. Rest assured that the process is easy and can be completed in a nice afternoon of tinkering with your gal.

Takes care

Hi Shadowman,

I'm sure that I speak for all of us that will now be able to look our passenger in the eye without leaning forward, you have done a fantastic job. I'm sure that it has turned out to be more work for you to organize, answer questions, package ship, etc., than you imagined. That is how these projects go, but rest assured you have our eternal gratitude, and should be assured of free beer at any GT gathering. :cheers

Thanks,

Craig

My subwoofer enclosure arrived today.

Hello Shadowman,
I'm in London at the moment, but my wife tells me the subwoofer enclosure arrived today. I had her open it and check for any damage since I live just down the road from ACRJoe and it's probably the same FedEx guy who delivers. She has no idea what she was looking at, but she said it was really nicely done and appears to be in good order. I can't wait to get home later iin the week to look it over.
Thanks again for all your efforts. Now all I need is Joe to come over and work through the install with me.

Hi Shadowman,
I also received my sub enclosure and am very extremely pleased with what I took from the box. Great craftsmanship (please let Ash know I really appreciate the work he put into the creation of these pieces). I should be installing the enclosure this coming weekend, and am already looking forward to it. If I were to give the enclosure a number grade, I'd probably put it at 95out of 100. Please understand as beautiful as it is, there were two areas that I thought could have even have been better. (I must tell you that I'm a "Type A" kind of guy, so take the following comments with a grain of salt). The first thing was that I was a bit surprised that the outer insulation (sheathing) of the wiring was blue in color rather than black. This was corrected with a molecular bonding black paint intended for vinyl and other like properties. The other thing was that the wire ends weren't fitted with the correct terminal ends to simplify the install (plug and play if you will). I did order the proper terminal ends, and if others doing the modification need the information here it is:

Description Molex Number Mouser Number Digi-Key Part #
1) Mini Fit, Jr Receptacle
(5577) Dual Row 39-01-2025 538-39-01-2025 WM23700-ND
2) Mini Fit, Jr Plug
(5559) Dual Row
(free hanging) 39-01-3029 538-39-01-3029 (N/A*)
*must order panel mount style if you order from Digi-Key WM23600-ND
3) New Mini Fit Conn (F) 39-00-0168 538-39-00-0168 WM5961-ND
4) New Mini Fit Conn (M) 39-00-0096 538-39-00-0096 WM5963-ND

The project calls for:
1 of item 1 to be used to connect sub enclosure lead to the amplifier.
2 of item 3 to be used in the item 1 terminal connection.
1 of item 2 to be used to connect the lead inside the enclosure to the subwoofer.
2 of item 4 to be used in the item 2 terminal connection

With the incorporation of these simple parts, the termination of the original connections can all be retained (left completely stock) to simplfy a reverse procedure in the event one were to ever want to take the system back to its original state. But why??

I hope this nitpicking doesn't make me sound ungratefull, because again I love the craftsmanship of the sub enclosure and the efforts that were extended to bring it to fruition.

ARCJoe,
When you post your listing of materials required for the the transformation, together with the recommended installation procedure, maybe you could include the information on the terminal ends required to have a true plug and play system.

Just my second post and I see that this is alredy too long, my aplogies.

Thank you for the input; very nice.

The only comment that I can quickly answer is the blue wire and the OEM connector; on this end I covered the wire with OEM style black mesh. Ash was more concerned with a quality of the wire rather than the color and then as for the OEM connector he simply did not have any or he would have gladly installed them. As for the idea of a quick disconnect; certainly this could have been done however the greater concern was to have the pass through area for the wire sealed and then once the enclosure is installed there is no wire seen on the passenger side and only a couple inches on the driver's side.

I truly appreciate the comments, the suggestions, and the kind words.

I would like to get a set of the connectors to look at the setup you are intending on using. Would you be so kind and just let me know the cost and I will promptly forward it to you?

Lastly; I have been in contact with ACRJoe and very soon he will have the secondary materials needed as well as a nice blow by blow for all to follow during the conversion process.

Have a great day

Regards

The wiring was not in any way included in the original scope of work. Ash elected to include the wiring proactive and as a gesture of goodwill. Accordingly, and with all due respect, I would rate Ash's work at 100%.

Delineation of the installation procedures involved about eigth man hours and 10,251 characters. I am certain they provide highly comprehensive detail and a clear roadmap to completion.

ACR Joe,
Okay, no debate, Ash's work is 100%, and as I said before, I love the enclosure. I'm looking forward to seeing the installation procedures you've put together, they sound great. Will a listing of materials and specifications also be included?

Shadowman,
I will put the terminals and connectors that you requested in the mail tomorrow morning. (Just have to find your address. I'll let you know if I can't find it) Their cost is minimal, so they'll be coming to you gratis. Looking forward to meeting you and ACR Joe sometime in the future.

Thanks again to you both.

Thank you

If you can not find the address PM me and I will furnish it.

No offense taken on this end; I feel that Ash did a wonderful job and yet I also understand in as much as we are tweaking that which Ford presented to us you have taken the project even further adding yet another personal touch.

As ACRJoe stated; the wiring was not even considered in the beginning however as I stated Ash wanted to be certain that all of the enclosures were sealed up and make the completing of the process as painless as possible for all undertaking it.

Stay active on the Forum as I suspect that you will bring many great things to it.

Thanks again

Shadowman
