What a great day we were able to enjoy yesterday...incredible Ford GTs, superb roads and great friends!

MJ has posted some excellent photos on the original thread, be sure to check them out. Remember guys, we said we would be sure to post our photos on the forum and videos on YouTube!

Here are my three cockpit videos (about 5 minutes each) from the route Kendall laid out for us. Not only were the roads fun and the scenery beautiful, but we were able to run unencumbered by traffic for much of the day. :thumbsup

I know Woboose and Hollywoodstunts had their Go Pros going also, and maybe some others I did not see. I'm certain they will share them soon.

Up here in Taxington, you'd never see two drivers do what the two SoCal drivers you overtook on the 'double yellow' stretch did (in the 1st vid) - pull over. 'Never happen up here. Never.

Kudos to those two boys (or gals?)!

They won't do it here either. I've gotten behind cars that can only go 35MPH up the 50-55MPH mountain highways and have traffic backed up for 1/2 mile. If you can't go the speed limit allow others to pass. Worst offenders are VW Vans (yes, they never rust and people still drive them around here. Heck they can't even go the speed limit DOWNHILL).

I have the old style GoPro and like it.

The second segment had lots of bicycles on the other side. How lucky you didn't have any on your side to slow you down. Around here they own the road.

Pockets, even if they see the nasty nose of a Ford GT in the rear view mirror?!?!?!?!?
And they were gals.

The only - ONLY - time I ever saw wunna those road hogs pulled over was on the 101 in OREGON, of all places. Some IDIOT pulling an RV doin' LITERALLY 10-15 mph up a twisty stretch of that road just WOULD NOT get out of people's way. 'Horns honkin' and "number one" gestures were abundant...but the clown flat REFUSED to take the hint. Then what to 'mine' wondering eyes did appear but an Oregon 'stater' leap-frogging around the 30 or so cars piled up behind that jerk. He pulled the puke over and was REALLY reading him the riot act when Wifey and I were going by, and he was pointing to all the drivers going by who were STILL giving him the finger! Shoot, NOW DAYS the guys givin' the finger would be the ones who'd be pulled over and the SNAIL would be allowed to continue on down the road unmolested.

'Not "nasty" to my way of thinkin'!

And they were gals.

That doesn't really surprise me in a way. 'No "MACHO" thing to get in the way of things.

Enjoyed the videos, thanks for posting. What settings and enclosure did you use for the Go Pro? Used mine for the first time at the rally in SLC and had horrendous air noise and the video through the windshield was burnt out. Took a lot of post processing to get anything acceptable.

You are very lucky to have a piece of highway that nice where you can air the car out and not have to worry to much about the cops

Here in BC canada the only stretch of highway we have that looks like the one you were on is the Kokahala , and if I drove like that on the Kokahala I would have had my ride seized and impounded within 5 to 10 minutes

Gotta love BC , NOOOOT !!!

Here's the other side of the story. Wife and I have been traveling a bunch in the motor home and just went all the way up US 1 Santa Barbara to Crescent City, and then over 199 to Grants Pass Oregon. I'm driving a 25000 lb coach pulling a 4 door Rubi and it's 1,000 miles, one lane each way filled with 15 mph turns and many many grades. I pulled over regularly when even 1 car would be trapped behind because I do know what it's like to be trapped behind a big slow pig. I'll bet I pulled over more than fifty times and believe me it's a real tug to get that thing rolling again on a upgrade and NOT ONE single driver gave me a "thank you" for be courteous wave, (however nearly every biker did). Towards the end of the trip I stopped pulling over until I had the legal limit of 5 behind. So the moral of the story is which came first, The Chicken ( arrogant driver that thinks everyone needs to get the hell out of his way) or the egg (traffic slug that's now pissed so wont pull over). Someone pulls over, give them a thank you for being courteous wave.

I hear you Steve...both times those cars pulled over I put my left hand out over the roof and gave them a thumbs up.

Yeeeeeeeeup...agreed. BUT - YOU pulled over. This puke DIDN'T. And the posted speed was 60 if I remember right (remember HE was doing 10-15). He was pulling a 24 ft (or so) 'trailer with a DUELLY! PLUS the shoulder of the road was wide enough to land a 747 on. He could have moved over at ANY time and STILL crawled along at 10-15 if he'd wanted to.

No, this guy was just being a total................ Trust me on this one.

(Edit: If you could have seen the LEO's blood-red face and the STEAM shooting out of his ears when he chewed that bozo out - you'd agree with my take on the situation in a heartbeat!)

Pockets, not taking his side at all and I've been in your shoes frustrated many times. I think most drivers are soooo rapped up in their own little worlds that they're either clueless or could care less as to what's behind them or give a crap as what you may have just done so as keep them going at their chosen pace. Just saying that when someone does make an effort to pull over for you it's nice to have that effort acknowledged.:thumbsup Sorry for the high jack, looks like I missed a fantastic drive!

You would have made us an even dozen GTs!

RVKing has pledged to put together a run for us down in your neck of the woods later this year...hopefully that will be in sync with your calendar.

Tachy, most all the setting are default mode.

To answer you specific questions, I used the "r5" Resolution mode, the highest one, 16:1. I used the "SPt" setting for Exposure, as that is the recommended setting for when the camera is inside the car and you want it to focus on scenery outside the cockpit.

This time I used the enclosure with the openings in the back (driver's window open, passenger window closed). They work best when the speeds are slower. Note how much wind noise there was on Part 1, where at times the speeds were pretty good. I've also used the fully enclosed piece not he track and since both windows are open, it worked pretty well. Hopefully Bruce and Tom will post their videos, their cameras were outside the cars. Then we can hear that set up and compare.
