Does anyone know why they did not make the entire side window operational. That non operational vent portion makes for a more closed in feeling. Has anyone talked to the guys involved in the design of the car relating to this issue. Just curious.

I don't know for sure, but I suspect it is to allow for the window to roll all the way down in the door. Without it I think the window would interfere with the door hinges, and other internal mechanisms.

DBTGT is absolutely correct. The whole window unit was very tricky to design and make functional.

It's my understanding that there was more than a few "Heated" meetings concerning the windows. In the original design, the windows were not even functional. Changes were made to the actual door outer skin design to accommodate a working window. As anyone who has seen the inside of the door can attest, it is a VERY tight fit between the glass and the skin. There is no way the whole window could go down, and still keep the desired shape of the door. A classic case of form vs function.

I guess thats why we have the word, compromise. :thumbsup

I am glad form prevailed !:thumbsup

If you put it down half or 3/4 way, it looks cool and racy, almost like the little lexan windows in the racecars...
