Shadowman and "Another Diversion"

Some of you folks will remember that a couple years ago my son and I created a mini nitro fuel version of our gal; well we are at it again.

My son approached me several weeks ago asking when we could build another as such the plan was put into place however this time instead of a typical nitro gal I elected to create one with an engine not often used in these gal’s; it has overhead valves, a cam, push rods, and a bit of a straight pipe to garner a more unique sound.

Here is a picture of the gal that we completed a couple years ago as well as the new project that is presently underway.

Thus far we have assembled a portion of the chassis as well as the front differential; the pinion for the rear differential is in place and the remainder of the differential will be buttoned up tomorrow after my son sets the ring gear into position and seals the case.

Shadowman very cool!! I see direct drive, 2spd, all wheel drive. Is that a traxxas or hpi car?? Looks like an engine for a plane /heli.

Thank you for all of the cool comments; my son is having a blast and yes there is more room at the table for those that wish to become a family member aka Rocketman.

The original gal was a HPI however this is an Associated Factory Team kit and yes she is all wheel drive and 2 speed. As for this paticular engine; it is a car offering by OS; or at least was at one time as I do not think they offer it anymore. They used to offer it as a flywheel or with a pull cord start.

Now to the BMW; that particular gal is IMO as close as one typically could get to a Europe spec CSL in the good old USA without sliding one in the back door; stem to stern she has been converted; interior, roof, and the list goes on with the engine management being converted to MAP along with the associated throttle bodies, carbon fiber intake, etc.

Very Cool Bill. My son is in a RC club at school. They race in the Gym on weekends so they run electric motors. Here is a shot of his racer with a GT body installed. His new chassis is all carbon fiber. He does all the work himself. I help with lending him tools. Of course he painted it like Dad's GT:thumbsup

These are all great stories! I bought RC Mustangs for both of my boys, and we had a great time with them. These GT models look like a lot of fun.

This is an enjoyable thread with many great shared comments.

I enjoyed seeing the Gulf car and knowing that another young man was involved with the process.

Now Brian; there is no doubt that my son would enjoy the process and yet I think that you would too however if in the end if you would like some help by all means send it this way.
