Great pictures love the Lola

Thanks for the pictures. I also love the Lola. Tonight i'll post a picture of John Mecom's Jr's original Lola T-70 which Walt Haskins drove for him in the 60's. John Jr.and his Dad named it the Hussain Special as they had a giant oil deal with King Hussain at the time and even let him drive the car around an old WWll Blimp Base air strip in Hitchcock, Texas they owned and tested their race cars on. The picture was taken that day. I'll post tonight from my house. Brings back many memories. The good old days Ralphie.

This may be the same car with different numbers. This picture is think was taken at its unavailing while the King was in Houston.

^^^ You probably can't read the names on the photo above. Here's a crop. Owner: John W. Mecum, Jr. Drivers: Walt Hanegen, Mark Donohue, Parnelli Jones. Same Mecum Racing Team decal on the door (not sure you'd call that a door).

I'm not very good at high speed panning shots. Most are blurry. This one is pretty good.

Looks like Parnelli Jones is the only driver listed in your photo.

Gosh I don't know. There were so many C Modified race cars runing SCCA in the 60's I couldn't keep up with them all. When Ford and Chevrolet were building the big blocks they were put into everything. Mecom's Lola T-70 ran a big block Chevy. Ralphie probabily knows more on these than I.

Very interesting. I have a track membership there and it is now known as GrandSport Speedway.

That is the location where John jr. Kept all of his race cars even the Chevy Grand sport corvettes he purchased from GM in the 60's. I think originally he owned all of them (4). I remember seeing Chevrolet dealer from Dallas, Delmo Johnson drive a Gran Sport in Galveston and it was a BEAST. he was all over the track. I'll look for a picture of it. DIGMAN since you live in Dallas, do you have a picture of Delmo Johnson's Cars.
