They'd sell 100x more if they added GPS functionality to it. Any car nut could easily justify a GPS that did all that other cool stuff...

The Das Daq has GPS and is a nice looking unit. It used to have a feature to use the gps to monitor your progress around a track. The folks selling it went bust tho.

I suspect Tim means bluetooth for hands-free phone use. And I completely agree with him. This is bluetooth for wireless data transfer. Also cool, but I suspect the GPS/BT combo would attract a huge number of enthusiasts.
And Tim, you really have to change your avatar. I can't stop laughing every time you post. My wife thinks I'm losing it.

I don't like to guess peoples intent.

I also don't see how allowing a phone to connect thru this device would be at all useful.

Cool now you can change tunes on the fly. Going to the gas station tune. Wife in the car tune. Drag strip tune. Standing mile tune. The tunes are limitless. We can call You Mr Tune.

Now I need one.

Of course you're correct not to presume.
But what I meant is that a common feature on many aftermarket GPS devices is to also offer BT speakerphone/voice-dialing functions, among other functions. Recent state law changes are accelerating this. And it's part of the digital device convergence movement in which each segment is trying to assume the functions of their adjacent market competitors and in doing so, becoming the one device a consumer lives with. So I was speculating that car enthusiasts would flock to a 'one-device' that includes the functions of the product you cited, along with the other functions that popular convergence devices embody. And, consistent with the convergence patterns in the market, they are less likely to, in volume, have two devices in their car. So to drive volume adoption and sales, adding these functions is an interesting thought.
Sorry for the lengthy response, and the divergence from the thread.

I can't answer that. I am friends with the VP of Drew Technologies and they are kicking along strong right now.

Drew isn't the one out of business. The folks who made the GPS program to monitor the track performance are.
