Went to the ALMS race on Saturday (fantastic weather, sunny, not too hot with a great breeze).

About the Piloti Robertson Ford GT-R team.
This is a husband wife team with one other driver (Dave Robertson his wife Andrea race the car along with David Murry).
We spoke with the lead driver for the Ford GT race car (Dave Robertson) for about 20 min.
Dave advised that after Sebring this year they have turned a corner. The car is much more competitive now. They can go through the turns about as fast as the other GT-2 cars. The other GT-2 cars pull away initially out of the turn. However, the Ford GT catches them on the straight and now has the ability / possibility to pass on larger tracks. They have made lots of changes to the GT since last year and are excited about this year. Dave advised smaller tracks like Lime Rock are not ideal but the larger tracks are where they think they can make a better showing.
They continue to use a modified “street legal” Ford GT for simulation and mule testing.
It was great to talk with Dave, he is truly a fantastic guy for spending so much time with us on race day.

One of the sponsors of the Robertson Racing Ford GT is Riverside Ford Lincoln Mercury in Macon, GA (right in the middle of Georgia). They have sold several Ford GTs and are likely quiet familiar with our cars. If anyone here knows of them please let us know you experience, as this is likely a good shop for us to frequent when / if in that area.

Lime Rock is a great track to view a race. It has a very open paddock area, great viewing areas, many under shade trees, many within 100 feet of the cars. Very clean landscaped grounds, all you need is a lawn chair, camera and cold drink.

This year we found that David Murry is running a driving school at VIR in October. Not sure if any of you can swing this but it sure would be cool to run with him on that track. Plus the temperatures in October at VIR should be much better. http://www.davidmurry.com.php5-2.dfw1-1.websitetestlink.com/event-list/details/1-vir-track-days.html

Only a few GT owners showed up this year as some could not make it at the last minute and several others were at NJ Motorsports this past weekend.
Thanks to Lewis & John for coordinating our meeting with Dave Robertson.
Always great to see Gino (and his wife) plus Doug (and his wife).
One guy brought a Ford GT40 reproduction (did not get a chance to speak with him).
Several Cobras and lots of Mustangs, one Pantera, half dozen Aston Martins (two very sweet looking DBS models).

Lots of interest in the cargo carrier that Bob Ida installed on my GT as well as the larger Stillen brake kit, front air dam and rear diffuser. I have not yet had a chance to bed the brakes and re-bleed the system so I’ll have to report back on the Stillen brakes a bit later. However, the Stillen AP brake kit looks fantastic.

Unfortunately dad and I could only stay for about half the race but the Robertson Ford GT appeared to hold it’s ground very well against the other GT-2 cars. I’ll leave the race report to others but it was great to see the Ford GT hold their own and keep pace with the Porsche, Viper and BMW teams.

Great day, great to see the Ford GT on the track.
Special thanks Dave and the entire Robertson Race team (including Lisa) for making the visit with them possible.

Wish I could have been there.

Glad you could make it. It is great to hear of people getting to know the Robertsons better, these are our only state side GTR reps, gotta love em. I hope to make the next three races.
