Ok I backed into a curb that was not supposed to be there and clipped the corner of the rear diffuser.

It is a small area, but you can see it and u can feel the car becoming a bit nervous above 185 mph (ok joking on the last one).

Is the dealer the best source for this kind of stuff or does anybody know a better alternative?

Many thanks!

Take the panel off the car, examine the entire panel for damage. I had to do a little straightening out here and there. The fins themselves are fiberglass and easy to repair. If you need to do some panel repair heat it up with a heat gun first, makes the aluminum easier to work with. If you need to use a body shop the repair is very simple, don't get BS'd.

HA! I just broke one of the fins and you can definetly see the fiberglass exposed.

The dealer just quoted me $1,300 for the whole piece.... ouch!

The fins can not be bought seperately. You have to buy the whole belly pan. Cost on it is about $850 dollars to the dealer. I would try to find someone that can repair it first.

Check with Stillen….when I was there a month or so ago they were developing a replacement part for this. Not sure if it’s for sale just yet.

It was to be made out of a much more flexible material than OEM as well. Slightly larger too….it looked sweet

Here is a previous thread about the front spoiler where members got a good price from a guy named Maurice at Duval Ford. I called about an extra chin spoiler, he had the best price I could find. He may be able to help with the diffuser too. Just a thought.....

Quote: Call Maurice @ Duval Ford. 1 800 342 9940. Very good man and great prices.

If it's a small "ouch", go off and find the bondo with fiberglass and some spreaders. Clamp a spreader to the fin to get the angle and corner set up which it also acts as a base to lay the bondo to.

Mix, spread.... wait 30 minutes and sand with a random orbital. any hole then can be glazed and you don't even need a perfect finish - just the rough fiberglass look. Time 2 hr's - cost $12.69. :cheers

Don't ask me how I know but NOBODY can tell the difference.....:thumbsup

Mike,

So, NOBODY can tell?

OK, NOBODY, give it up.

What IS the difference?

How many beers is this going to cost me to get this guy to tell, about $12.69 worth? And about 2 hours to drink them?

...damn tire stops...

Does anyone here have the Stillen replacement installed?
I'd like to see what it looks like being 4" longer than stock.

I have the Stillen rear diffuser fins installed and they look wicked. They are HUGE. I love them and fit with the 'racer' image of the car. If you have a bumper they'll look good but if you have a bumper delete they may look awkward...I'll post some picts soon.....

The frikin diffuser is fiberglass..unless you went total anal on it...DOODS....take it to your local surf shop and for a cowabonga price, they will surely retro your analness back to original condition. :lol

Take the original off and go with the Stillen unit. Made of heavy urethane so breakage issues are history.:thumbsup
Now you have the time to figure out how to repair your original diffuser back to factory specs then you can hang it on a wall as art. :banana

The Stillen diffuser makes the car look a lot more menacing....the picts don't really do it justice, I think they look bigger in real life but anyway here's a reference...
