All,

One full day at work and already dreaming about next year.

Just curious...there was lots of chatter the last day or so at Rally III about next year's location. Some mention of Texas - so not sure if this is all of the Texas guys putting their votes in or DBK already has something in mind?

I threw out Monterey and Laguna Seca - which is a beautiful event area. But I missed II in CA and know we should move on. So a few others suggested Denver, Colorado and Montana [clear open roads with great scenery - not sure about tracks?]

Anwyway, curious what you all think? Not sure we can "one up" Vegas for the nightlife, cuisine and entertainment!

Laguna Seca would be great for a future rally, what a beautiful venue.

I miss riding up there with Motorcycle Safety Foundation staff members for the World Superbike Event. Taking every twisty road between here and there. Boiling hot in the inland areas and then riding through what seemed like 20 degree temperature drops as we approached the coast.

I thought the Bylaws decreed that odd numbered years were all held in California?

Just kidding, I'm not greedy. Very thankful that the past two years have been easily accessible to me and my fellow So Cal'ers...

I am biased as I am in Boston, I would like something on the East Coast....... Heck I even like the idea of Detroit again, see mustangs being made, Romeo....... I am sure I am in the minority though.....

Give you thoughts!

While certainly no where near a complete list, hopefully this will open up some conversation about the pro's and con's of possible locations! :cheers

Montana

I thought would be fun. But apparently they only have those tracks that are oval shaped.... and there's probably not much in the way of off track entertainment. Weather would be great.

Utah

Miller Motorsports Park is beyond belief. Fantastic facility with second level climate controlled viewing rooms. Great weather. Not so much other entertainment. Right?

Texas

World class entertainment, great tracks, possibility of natural disaster. Warm & sticky weather.

Colorado

Great weather, not sure about race tracks... do they have the ones that turn right AND left? I hear the entertainment is good... I bet my white bob-sled is faster than your blue one! :lol. I met some very nice folks from CO at the rally, maybe they could chime in with track info.

California

The obvious choice, but its been done. I'm not opposed to a revisit, but I wasn't there last year.

Terlingua, TX

:wink

I vote for [1] Montery/Laguna Seca or [2] Terlingua, TX.

Terlingua would be awesome if Carroll, aka: Mr. Shelby, was there playing Sheriff and we could burn out, do donuts, and do 209 mph down a straight road with no chance of getting tickets!

BTW - does Terlingua have a good "Rhino" nearby.

And sorry BONY, we looked for you at the "Rhino" in Vegas, but we didn't see you. Although there was one guy that was covered with only his legs and a hat showing in the back, dark corner. =)

Oh yea...I've been following the opening of that park a little bit. It looks really sweet.

If this place ends up being the area/track of choice, get with me on AC, TRUMP is one of my largest clients and I'll do the legwork for DBK on rooms and secure parking.

While I love Laguna Seca (since 1960), I think it might be difficult as they can only run a limited number of days with loud exhausts, and there are quite a few of us that would exceed the db limits there. This restriction should be checked at any potential track prior to commitment, as the tracks with limits usually reserve those days for their scheduled money making events.

I don't think it's a problem at Miller Motorsports in Tooele, and the lodging at Little America in Salt Lake is one of the best I've stayed at, but as said, it's a lousy party town. I like Texas; would love to run at Mid-Ohio, Elkhart Lake, Lime Rock, Sebring, Infineon (Sears Point), VIR, Road America, Portland, Fernley, Continental Divide (is it still operating), etc.

Actually, I'm happy to go anywhere - east, west, north or south, as there's no question that where ever we are, we'll make it another great time.

Aloha... Any tracks in Hawaii?

I'm with Awsum on this one ... Hawaii would be great. Plenty of good food, weather and scenery as a backdrop for Rally 4. Racetracks? Well, nothing the size of LVMS, but I used to hang out sometimes at Hawaii raceway park outside of Honolulu, it has a small track and a dragstrip http://www.racereview.com/ha-h-tracks.htm#RACEWAY

But, just think of the great driving possibilities.

My votes:

1 Hawaii
2 Monterey
3 Florida
