Rally 8 SoCal to NorCal "Trip of a Life" - Planning Thread

An overnight in Del Monte Forest (hotel, not camping) would offer the added attraction of a cruise on 17 mile drive. Picture the photo ops! Absolute world class! For anyone who hasn't been there, this is bucket list stuff.

I will add the caveat that, having live in Monterey, it's a nice place to visit but, to paraphrase Mark Twain, the coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in Monterey.

That said, summer on the central CA coast begins in September.

Unfortunately, it was finally worn out completely. The last time I tried it on was sometime in the 1980's, and it disintegrated into about 3 or 4 parts. So, all I have is the pictures....

Since the dates have changed, what's the plan for departure? Leaving SoCal the 2nd or 3rd? I'll be away the week before, but if I get back in time, I may'backtrack' to SoCal and make the road trip up to Sonoma with you guys.

Getting a lot of flak for missing Bella's B-Day. I missed her last one due to a business trip. I wish the dates were different. Im on stand-by now until later. Who knows by then I might get seperated and just bring Bella!!! Lets see what happens. Maybe Ill give her the green light for a new kitchen finally. Then Ill be able to go regardless. This could be the most expensive rally for me.

i would like to join the SoCal group, and if I can find someone willing to sell me a 2012 Boss302 red or comp. orange that I can actually drive during the Rally (plates and registration), I'll have it shipped in advance.

Did you guys decide on a one or 2 days trip?

OK. I made the change to my signature ~ DBK told me there was gonna' be a VAT tax assessed on the number and value of vehicles you 'admit' to owning, so I kept it to the alloted 4 car, low value, minimum. :biggrin

Yes, I think the competitive benchmarking exercize with the Camaro can be concluded, UNLESS I can come up with a new Z28. This is an important part of remaining objective ~ not drinking too much of the Dearborn Kool-Aid....:lol

So to your point, I was thinking of bringing the Pinto this year. But somehow pulling up in the parking lot at one of my favorite places http://mustardsgrill.com/ felt that it might not be, uh........, consistent with the image of the establishment....... I'm working on a transportation solution that will be more acceptable to you.

Overnight in Tahoe or Reno maybe? Awahnee Hotel in Yosemite Valley? It may already be too late to book there.
