Rally 6 Drive: NorCal to SLC

A group drive will leave NorCal on Tuesday August 23 early for SLC. A friend of mine will drive my tow vehicle & enclosed car trailer to haul our gear, wheels, tools, etc. behind us. If there is a problem with any GT we can fix it or toss it in the trailer. It is 650 miles one way which we can do, with stops, in 12 hours or less. We will leave SLC from NorCal on Sunday August 27. If anyone else is interested let me know & I'll add you to the list.

You betcha he deserves it! Not many cars at any price with mods of less than $1000 could have done what Tim did. Not a F458, not a LP670SV, not a ZR1, you get the picture.

I would love to, but I'll be coming off a week in Monterey/Historics/Pebble Beach. So I think I'm going to have our cars transported.

If anyone has arranged transport from NoCal to Rally and has room for 1-2, I'd like to get in on the deal. Otherwise, I'm sure we could fill a Reliable transport truck in Monterey and have it leave Monday or Tuesday for Salt Lake City.

As of today, we are unclear about our transport plans from Pebble Beach/Monterey. Reliable wants about $3,000.00 for the one-way transport, per car (we will probably have two). I'm sure if we could fill an entire truck (4 more needed), we'd get a much better rate.

We're also considering transporting ourselves in GT38/TeamJeff's 4 Car Hauler.

GTJOEY - PM Sent. Curious where this NoCal group is meeting up if you're leaving Monday? I've got to also orchestrate the transport of our Lambo to Silicon Valley Monday AM. And as important, where are you meeting this NoCal group? Sacramento?

Our wheels are spinning. You may have two more on this convey. One may be a Porsche RUF C4S. And we may want to attach some GoPro's to various cars. Are you guys up for that?

GTJOEY - Do you know of any other GT's or GT owners attending Monterey Car Week? I'll start another thread.

There are 6 of us leaving from Sacramento early Tuesday am. A few of the Bay Area GTs may come to Sacramento on Monday so we can leave early. There will also be a Ford E250 stretch van towing an enclosed trailer in case of emergencies. We'll have spare wheels & tires for flats also. Anyone who wants is welcome to stay Monday night at my place in Sacramento.

My suggestion to you guys would be:

Those leaving from Monterey on Monday - Drive to Reno; Spend the night at the Grand Sierra Hotel (previously the Hilton and the MGM Grand before that), as they will let you park the cars under the entrance canopy which shows off the cars, under the eyes of the valet office.

Those leaving from Sacramento on Tuesday - Leave early, meet up with the guys staying in Reno overnight and continue on to Salt Lake City.

As the "Drives" Producer for Joyride.com I'll be in and around the Malibu to Monterey area scouting for cool drive routes in our 997 C4S the week of... well, car week. Our cameraman (Phil) & I will then join the crew and do our best to keep up you guys in FGT's so we can get some footage of the drive to SLC! I'm very exited to see "the guys" again & have a chance to to get some killer video of all those GT's together in one place!!

My plan is to rig the C4S with cameras during the rally too, including on the track! We will have some stunning clips - guaranteed. :thumbsup
