Just finally got the HD-9 installed. Haven't tried the GT on it yet.

Will the front end clear or do I need different ramps or wood?

I have not tried my GT on the new lift I installed yet either.... but I think mine will require the 2x12 blocks like the GTGuys used when they were in town to do our cars.

My lift is a 10K Ben Pearson Bay Master.

Holy crap... I didn't think the pic was gonna' be so big.. I'll try to resize it in a few minutes

I have the HD9-ST lift, which is the narrower one. It is really too narrow for the rear wheels of the GT but I didn't have room for the wider one. I mounted tire chocks on the lift to stop the car in the right spot to fit in the garage so I don't use the supplied stops. The Bend Pak stops will easily clear the spoiler on the front, but the nose will extend far in front of the lift, if driven to the stops.

Craig

PS: The rolling jack on the Bend-Pak is a GREAT tool.

What about getting on it? Do you need to use wood or can you drive right on?

I have the HD9-ST and the GT goes right on from the ground. You have to saw an inch off the entrance braces to clear the rear tires. I used a portable band saw and sliced it off at an angle. The tires just clear on both sides.:wink

I lucked out - had room for the HD-9 with has about another 17 inches between the posts. Didn't want to worry about trying to thread the needle every time I want to use it. Happy now I did that after reading your responses.

Narrow bay/short Rotary lift is great

I have the Rotary lift and it is great. 12,000lb capacity is overkill but it's made in America and isn't that much more than the Bend -Pak you are talking about which I understand is made in China. Width between the posts is 106" and the posts clear a standard height garage door. If anyone is interested, I will post some photos.

I have the HD-9, the wider model. My car is lowered 1 3/16 front 7/8's rear. I place a 2X10X3' board in front of each side and it clears no problem.

Steve, did you use the lowering kit for the stock shocks, or new Penske shocks? How does the ride compare to stock?

I use the lowering kit. I don't plan to do any serious tracking so I couldn't see the 5 grand for the Penske option.
Two others I've talked to have done the same as me swear the ride is even better (smoother) but for mine it is just a bit more ridged. It bothered me for about the first 50 to 75 miles then after that I didn't even notice it.
My reason was to rid the car of the nose high look.

Photos of Rotary SM12NBS

Here are photos of the narrow bay/short Rotary lift in a garage with a 16' door and 8' ceiling. While I obviously can't raise the cars to the full height of the lift, I can raise them sufficiently to do maintenance. The Lincoln on the lift is raised to its max height. The GT can be raised about a foot higher.

By carefully locating the lift in the garage, I can get the GT or the Lincoln in the garage next to the lift. My new garage with have a 12' ceiling and two 9' doors. I like the lift enough to get another one so I can stack four cars.

Finally got a chance to put cars on the lift.

I have a 9 foot ceiling and I can get the GT on top and a 64 Corvette underneath.

I am not able to put the lift all of the way up, but I have several inches clearance on top of both cars. Not a lot of room, but comfortable.

I got the HD-9 instead of the HD-9ST. Thought that I would want the extra width. Now that it is there, I can't imagine having a narrower one (I do have an extra wide garage). Obviously it fits on the lift without a worry of hitting the posts and no trimming needed. The lift can go to a wider track setting, but I kept it at the narrow so I can park the Corvette on top and not worry about falling into the great black hole.

Man, the GT is a W I D E car.

Anyone know of a little less expensive aluminum ramps that will work with the HD-9 ?

Larry,

Now you need to get one for the other side of the garage. Just think, you would have room for 1 more GT. All the better people have at least 3.
Go Red this time. :thumbsup

rotary lift

Sinovac...the Rotary looks great ...and made in America. Did you lag bolt it to your floor? Can't tell from the photos. Do most people bolt the hoists to the floor?

I did the same thing. It is so tight that it makes you remember to be careful when driving on. I open the door an lean out to look at the placement of the rear tire before the rear gets all the way up.

AJB Blue /White 2006 #0541

'Don't know about most people's 4-poster, but mine was designed to be wheeled around as needed (Auto Lifter's"). So, mine is "free standing".

But, if I were planning on "stacking" cars - the hoist would definately be bolted to the floor no matter WHAT the brand. (We're in an earthquake zone here.)

Thanks. The lift is bolted to the floor. As far as I know, all of the commercial grade lifts are bolted to the floor.
