Hi, I'm new here. I have a few exotics including an F40, 512TR, 512M, & a Katech Z06

Looking to buy the most exotic US iron, the Ford GT.

Any tips on what to look for when shopping for a car ?

Are the 06 spindles and A Arms all upgraded from the 05s ?

Thanks

Welcome. Nice rides.

Try and see as many GTs as possible. There are many members here in S. FLorida. PM them and meet up and see their rides to get close up tips.

Otherwise have a pre purchase inspection done; lots of stories cars.

A arms not an issue.

If ready I would go with Shelby/Elite or BJ ( Forum Dealers) who will give you flawless service.

Beware, after 1 GT you may want others in certain irressitible colors (Gulf, Black, Silver); so you may be selling rides soon too!

Good Luck

find one of the dealers on this site, they have proven themselves to be stand up guys and only deal with clean no story cars, shelby and BJ can help you out.

I just recently bought my first GT through Shelby and he was and continues to be a great guy to deal with.

The cars continued to get tweaked and debugged as the production went on. I like the 06's but there is nothing wrong with the 05's .. I would look for the latest build lowest mileage car. We have some great dealers here who specialize it GT's. We can never have to many GT's in S. FL !!

I would have bought an 05 or 06. Ended up with an 06 from Shelby. I am already getting the itch for a second GT--preferably a blue one.

Well now, ya see, ya went about it all BACKWARDS!

In my case, 'wifey wanted a new kitchen. She got it. T-H-E-N I went GT shopping! WHAT COULD SHE POSSIBLY SAY after that?

Well...uhhhhh...actually, 'turns out there WAS one thing she not only COULD say - she DID say! To wit: "I think I'd like to get a BMW." :eek :willy But, I don't wanna hear about how that thoroughly blew my clever 'financial' strategy to bits... :frown)

Love being single too.

Weekend at the beach with a Yoga instructor over here in NY.

I might actually be the toy in this situation!

I recall when I goy my last Carrera I had to wait until she got her Kitchen in the last house. After many more goodies and a cruise on SilverWhisper to EU I got my OK for my 1st GT. I used to laugh when I saw guys had two or some more GTs and now I honestly would love a second one. I dont think I have the money for a big diamond yet to lay the groudwork for this but maybe sometime in the future... Im in a family of car lovers and my nephew asked me what car I would buy if I hit the Lotto. I answered, I would buy at least 2 more GTs before thinking of a Ferrari, Bugatti, or Zonda... He thought I was nuts. Actually after my 3rd GT my next choice would be a Carrera GT

I visited Pagani factory back in 2002 and met Horacio

His cars are drop dead gorgeous w the body off, not many cars you can say that about. The carbon fiber & the billet aluminum, titanium everywhere is just breathtaking

I sat in an 02 Zonda and the cockpit was a pretty tight fit

The new ones are crazy $$$$ but amazing cars, I'd take the newest Zonda R over a Bug or an Enzo in a heartbeat

Wow this is a beaut.

Thanks for sharing. Hurry up and join the brotherhood!!! Oh BTW you like white; there is a nice one for 800K!!! :):willy But be careful its explosive and probably been involvd in assult in the past!!! I think its like the second or third fastes GTs in the mile, :ack

I suggest you continue to keep in touch with the boys in the forum like Marv, and Shelby and everyone. I think when you go through a dealer like Eliteautos you will have the ultimate peace of mind.

I have seen a beatiful GT locally for sale here locally and I think this car had major frame damage as it looked sideways when you looked at it from the back.

HUBBSTER...I've owned a mid-production 2006 and a early production 2005. I can confirm, based on both GT's, that the later 2006's are slightly "more refined". However, that depends on what you like. I still have the early '05 and I actually enjoy seeing the more "raw" CF in on the rear clamshell, the billeted A Arms, etc.

I can vouch for BJ Autos - which I bought my '05 from. I also know that Shelby Smith is a great guy and you certainly can't go wrong purchasing from him either.

If you're going to "drive it"...don't worry about spending the little extra to get a 500 mile car. Save the $$$ and buy one with 4k or so on it. You'll want the $$$ for "mods" anyway.

BTW - LOVE the Zonda. As well as Enzo and Bug. Not sure which I'd get if I ever achieve that level of success in my career. I think I'd own 3 FGT's and a few Italians before I stepped up to one car for that kind of dough.

Best of luck.

I'm used to rough & raw w the F40 :biggrin That interior looks like it came out of a stripped FIAT:lol

I had to install an amp & speakers for my iPod, needed some tunes to cruise.

I have Tubi straight pipes on it, A little Metallica S&M w an angry hornet twin turbo Ferrari is a great concert

Looking for something more modern & user friendly now as the F40 is like an Italian Dominatrix, You can only handle her for short periods :biggrin
