For those of you non tracking guys interested in adding the front screen to keep bugs and debris out of the radiator you may want to consider the new front screen supplied by the GT Guys.

Very nice. Why do you suggest it for non tracking guys? I can't imagine that would make the car run notably hotter.

I was told that the early 05's had these as a stock part but they were removed because of overheating during harder driving.

The installation is so simple it has a couple of tabs at the bottom and you use the three screws at the top and you are done.:thumbsup

It would be great for anyone (track or exclusively street driven) if it's that easy to remove and reinstall. Pull it off for track days, put her back on to drive home.
Between gravel, rice, straw, bugs...where I live it would be a welcome addition.

I have an early 05 with the factory screen and with "numerous" runs north of 200 mph and with our top speed runs at 235.4 mph we have never had a temp problem with the screen in place.

When running extended periods on road courses is where the overheating problem has occurred. Low speed corners with lots of full throttle, hard brake back on to wto and not enough airflow. Any restriction isn't good under those conditions.
I'm assuming that you are just running the car up to speed to my knowledge that hasn't been the problem. At the speeds you're running you should be packing plenty of air through the radiator!

I have had to back off due to engine temps on a few road courses, even full course at Miller, maybe it was from the heat coming of the Porsche Cup car I was pushing :wink. That said, I have not tried back to back runs with/without the screen.

Hey sandman do you ever go to Euro Sunday's in Sacramento or do you know of any car meets that are close to Davis? I'm in Davis. You're completely right about gravel, straw, bugs, and rice. That little screen does nothing when your behind someone and they have a mattress fall out of their truck giong 75mph on the I-80. :frown
