State of Confusion
I'm trying to decide on a GPS System.

Narrowed it down to 2 Systems.
Garmin Nuvi 880 Auto GPS vs. Magellan Maestro 5310 GPS

Any help in comparisons would be appreciated. Which is best ?

Thanks GTNJ

Nuvi has been getting rave reviews from the geeks. I've got a new 770 sitting in the box waiting for me to open this weekend (actually BD present for the wifey since I have NO BOTTLEHOLDERS)!

I had one bad experience with Magellan not living up to what they told me on phone. :thumbsdow Buying Garmin from now on! Have a Nuvi 360 that works great, better than the built in unit in my BMW 750, but that is not saying too much. BMW's GPSs suck!

At the risk of being a slightly dated view, the user interface of Garmin has been hands-down better than Magellan.

I have a TOM TOM and it came loaded with North America and European maps plus has BlueTooth and plays mp3's, answers the cell, and more bells and whistles than any gear queer could ever need.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 660; my fiancee a TomTom. The TomTom is far more user friendly. My Garmin failed after just a few months of use. Believe me you don't even want to think about dealing with their c/s dept. Calls and Em's go unanswered for weeks on end. DO NOT BUY A GARMIN!!!!!!!!

I've been using a Uniden Maptrax GPS352 and I like it very much - had it for over a year and it was really great going back to Detroit when I had the Gurney Bubble installed. It allows zooming (in & out) by switches on the edges instead of touching the screen. Typically cheaper than Garmin or Magellan. You can get them through Uniden's outlet,

www.unidendirect.com

or Amazon.

I have one in each vehicle.

I just got an 880 to mount in our MINI Cooper. The voice command functions work pretty well assuming the radio isn't too loud. Its the main reason to buy this model. If you don't want the voice commands a 770/780 could be had for much cheaper.

I don't have any experience with the Magellan, but I like how easy to use and fast the Garmin is. I also have an old IQue3600 that broke a year or 2 after the warranty ran out. Garmin replaced it for Free! I like customer service like that so I bought from them again. The IQue is still working even after a couple of snowmobile saddlebag trips...

I have a Garmin Nuvi 660 that has been pretty good. I had a Tom Tom that I didn't like so much and eBayed for the Nuvi.
