Just in case someone did like I did and assumed that all of the connectors for the gauges are keyed, one isn't! The connector for the odometer can be put it 2 ways, the power lead (purple) goes on the top.

For those wondering how the dimmer for the gauge back lighting works, the back light signal to the gauges is a battery voltage (~12 to 14v) square wave with a varying duty cycle from 5% to 100%.

Forgot to add the frequency is about 85 Hz.

So if I put the odometer connector upside down, does my odometer go backwards? Or, does something fry?

Most likely it will get fried! The 12v line will connector to the reset line, it may be protected but I don't know.

Mine is keyed (two grooves on one side of the plug) so that it can't go on reversed. Maybe that was another running change. Still, it's good advice in case yours is one of those not so keyed.

What build number is your car? Mine is 899...
Just checking.
My only problem at the moment is my gas gauge is a no op. Stuck on 'full'. I worry that it might be the float though.

Someone here pointed out on a related thread that the tank doesn't have a float...'uses some other method of checking the fuel level...''sonar'' or something. I forget exactly what he said the deal was now.

The gas sensor doesn't use a float it is probably your gauge. The connector with two grooves is for the warning lights. The one I am talking about has a single row of 5 pins.

Here's my connectors.

Two pics of the single row of 5 pins, WITH grooves on plug, and double row of 10 pins each (20 pins) also with grooves on the plug. Both 'other ends' of the plugs in the car have similar matching grooves.

Then again, my gauge cluster says "CANADIAN" on a sticker on it. So maybe they're just like that for cars north of the border.

Thanks for the photo. My car an 05 model around #1700, has only the 5 pins sticking up. Is yours in Km? That may explain the different parts.

Nope, mine's in miles also. 06 car (obviously, being a Heritage). The only difference with the Canadian Gauges is the symbols instead of words for each gauge (ie - a Fuel pump image rather than the word "FUEL" etc, something that will soon be rectified with the installation of a Speedhut Gauge set.

When you talk to Speedhut, ask them if you can have some numbers on the volt gauge, mine looks unfinished without them.

Does anyone know why there are not numbers on the Speedhut or stock voltage gauge?

Exactly why I've refrained from pulling the plug. I'll bet others feel likewise. Come on Speed Hut, you can do it I'm sure!

I am sure they can do this if requested.

^^^^ They're pretty amazing, if you ask it, they can probably do it. I was speaking to them today, and yes, they CAN do it. Just ask. My set's already in production, so too late for me, but I did something else for that anyway, so I'm good.
