I had a chance to meet another one of the great forum Members Sunday afternoon. Blue 1923 ( Gordon ) came by my shop in his 05 Midnight Blue w / white stripes. Man do those Metallic blue cars look great in the sun light !!
Gordon is running a real nice wheel and tire package that was interesting to see and feel. He has the Mich. PS II's. Front = 255/35/19 , Rear = 335/30/20 He has them mounted on some beautiful HRE wheels that are very similar the the light weight BBS wheel is design. The rears had about a 4" polished lip and man they look tough !!!
He also has the Brembo big brake kit (6 pot) calipers and floating rotors in the front and the Ford light weight Floating rotors in the rear. Man this set up looks killer and offers some great stopping power. Gordon took me for and ride and was kind enough to let me pilot his beast. Oh did i mention he also has the Accufab X Pipe , a pulley and a tune. The car runs very strong I might add !! :biggrin
I was really curious to see how the 1" lower profile tires would feel. I was expecting them to be harder than trigonometry but in fact they felt very stable and compliant , not harsh or jarring as some lower profile tires can be. This set up leaves you some decent sidewall height so you have some cushioning , bent wheels should not be an issue. The PS II"s seam much stickier than the stock rubber and stayed hooked up all the time. The ride was brief but the difference is noticeable. The brakes hauled down the car very quickly and felt rock solid.
Maybe Gordon can offer some more info on the exact wheel data (offsets etc.) To me this is a great way to get a killer look and step up to some more responsive stickier tires. With Gordon's permission I'll post a few photo's I took ... :banana
Here's the photos. Sorry I guess I should have closed the clam shell for the Rear photo. I can tell you the gap beteween the tire and wheel arch looked the same or less. No big gap. If Gordon gets upset I'm sending him after Chip ( he's a big guy !! )
