You know that engine would make a good coffee table if you put a piece of glass on top of it! :eek

Rare Vintage Champagne.

Gentlemen,

Three years ago while touring the Wixom FGT final assembly plant during Rally I, there was a huge stack of FGT engines on pallets. I stared at that stack for some time and wished I could take a few home.

Handbuilt, all aluminum, brute strong, lightweight, very powerful, and expensive. It's physical beauty is enhanced by all of those things, and more. The heart of the Ford GT represents the culmination of all that's been learned about power plant technology during the last century at the Ford Motor Company.

And as we begin our descent into a new performance dark age similar to that we experienced in 1972, its likess will probably not be seen again during our lifetimes. Smaller motors, turbochargers, diesels, and a host of similar changes driven by the Green Nazis won't necessarily spell the end of performance automobiles, but it will certainly dampen things.

With the clam shell of my Ford GT open, I look down upon that power plant the same way that a wine connoisseur would view the last remaining case of a coveted vintage champagne. A rare and special treat that most men will never get to experience.

I think the supercharged 5.4 is the finest performance engine Ford has ever produced for a production car. It is simply amazing. I just installed a pulley/tune/CAI on my GT500-all in about 1 1/2 hrs.-which yielded 545hp/540 ft. lbs at the tires. I have never seen a motor from a factory with such enormous potential-all of which can be exploited with induction/computer changes only.

My son was with me and commented on how simple it was to get an extra 100hp. This started a conversation about the "good old days" and how much money and time it took to get modest improvements in power back in the day, typically at the expense of reliability and driveability.

Man was I an idiot when I lamented the passing of the carb age..

Soroush,

I was over at Nicks last week and he said your engine was done. I have some time saturday and sunday evening if you need some help! I also heard the New Mustang he had changed the Cams and pistons in and it sounded absolutely WICKED!! Can not wait for yours. Whta exhaust are you going back on with? How about just a straight, cat delete header exhaust for the Rally!!!:banana

Larry

Really, let me know if you need help. Logan has a golf tournament sat/sun that starts around 10 am and I should be done around 4 p.m....

Poor soroush. I'm sure nothing has changed with any of it either. Just an extensive detail :lol

I'm not a huge fan of the regular 5.4, but the Ford GT motor is flat out overkill. Name me another stock longblock car that can take 1000+rwhp for 30,000+ miles (Mr. McPhail). It's a phenomenal piece of work.

That said, the future of Ford engines and power is looking good. With gasoline direct injection turbocharged motors, you're going to see "modability" taken to another level. Look at the puny 3.5L TT in the SHO. This is a 4300 lb sedan me and Torrie both have that damn near runs 12's with 15 minutes worth of modifications. I drove mine 1200 miles at a tick under 80 and got 27.5 mpg.

I'm just sayin, with the 5.0L Coyote making 400hp in a base Mustang coming down the pipe, and direct injection popping up everywhere, how much power would a 5.0L GTDI motor make? How much power would it make when you advance the timing off the ridiculously conservative levels the factory tunes them with?

Ford says they want to build 750,000 "EcoBoost" motors annually within the next few years. Whether it's a 4cyl version in a tiny fiesta or an 8cyl version in who knows what, things could get very interesting in a hurry.

thanks for the offer Larry,

Im gona finish preping it tonight and drop it in, I mean gently place it in,:lol tomorrow, I will take my time and button her up over the weekend. Then it will be the most difficult part of it all, driving it for 500 miles under no/low boost:willy to break it in,

the cams on my car are more aggressive than the ones you heard on the mustang(the lobe seperation on the mustangs were 113, mine is at 115), and you read my mind on the exhaust, it will be stainless works/ no cats:eek wonder if its gonna be loud?:lol

DBK, It wasnt an expensive detail, I did it myself!:biggrin

It is very easy for any stock block last for an eternity with 1000+ RWHP.

Only allow EP "drive" it. :lol
