I was doing some research on paint options for a few of the SEMA project vehicle's we're building this year and I stumbled across this.

https://www.basfrefinish.com/FordGT/Ford_GT_Repair_Systems_Glasurit_rev_10-13-06.pdf

Apparently BASF was the official supplier of the paint for the Ford GT's. (click on the following link, look on the right hand side for the "Paint Repair Info" button.)

https://www.basfrefinish.com/cgi-bi...UB_MENU&directAction=Home&fromhttpsredirect=Y

If this is a repost I apologize and Dave and Bony please feel free to delete this thread. Like I said, hopefully no one ever needs this information but just in case you do, here it is.

Good post Kyle. Quite a few guys have been trying to get accurate info on paint. So far it has all been fairly decent guesses.

Anybody have a source for touchup paint? White is listed as "centennial white" on the window sticker, but BASF calls it "performance white". All the other common colors (Midnight Blue, etc.) have different names in the BASF info. also. Gets confusing. I'm looking for a small vial of paint to touch up little 1-2 mm dings on my car's nose. I will call the local Ford dealer and try them. Thanks, AC

I believe Kyle is right about BASF being the paint supplier. I have an original paint panel for the "Gulf Blue" that was done by BASF and supplied to the factory. Ford later renamed it "Heritage Blue". On the back of the panel it has a BASF label.

What is sonic blue? Just curious.

Sonic Blue (also its Generic name) was used on the exterior of the 2005/2006 Focus's, and on the 2005 Mustangs. Its paint code is SN and the touch-up vials are P/N PMP-19500-7095A.

It was also used on the 2004 Lincoln LS and Town Car, and some 2005/2006 Ford Trucks/SUV's

I'm a bit confused guys...

Pages 5 & 6 show that T8 has a "main body" and "stripe" usage. I don't remember ever seeing a GT with "Tungsten" stripes... :confused

If I were to work on a Tungsten GT, I would be using "T8" on the body and "TL" for the stripes, right ?

Thanks for clearing up that confusion !!

There is some confusion about the paint codes for the stripes, wheels, calipers, interior silver and ebony black. I have been trying to obtain this information from Saleen in Troy, Michigan, but they have been quite busy lately and haven't been able to extract the info from their computer.

Perhaps we could get one of members in the Detroit area to stop by Saleen personally to speed up the process. The contact at Saleen is Todd Helms, who was in charge of the paint processes on the GT's, and their factory is located at 1225 East Maple Road in Troy.

There was one 2005 GT painted in the Sonic Blue color, and it was auctioned off with the proceeds (over the manufacturer's cost) going to charity. I'm not sure, but it may have been the first one, auctioned in Monterey to a Washington resident.

If I remember correctly, the sonic blue car sold at an auction in Texas to a cattle baron. It was not the first car auctioned off and bought by a collector in Washington. Only one sonic blue was painted for a Ford manager, and when upper management found out, it went to charity for auction. (names withheld to protect the innocent)

Thanks, Frank -

I knew it was a charity auction, but couldn't remember the details.
