Heritage Owners -- number or no number ??

I am about to clear bra my Heritage and am thinking about whether I want to peel off the number installed by the previous owner and keep an "un-numbered" car? Or should I keep the #8 that he put on?

My question to other Heritage owners -- did you number ? Why did you pick the number you chose to display? Do the numbers have significance to the GT40's raced in the '60's? Does anyone run numberless?

Thanks for your help!

Number. Renumber to something that matters to you or keep something historical. I chose #65 for the Nurburgring race car.

Number. It looks MUCH better with the number on it than it does just with the roundel. Seriously, check before and after pics. I was unsure, but I'm REALLY glad I did it.

I chose my number for 4 reasons:

1 just cause it was my favourite number,
2 It was my hockey number,
3 It was the number that Gulf Oil had on the GT40 that finished 7th in Daytona in 1967 (highest finishing GT in that race) and got Gulf involved with Ford GT's for racing, and
4 When I was a kid, my scalextric Ford GT40 was number 11 (like Grady Davis' car described above).

Anyway, like S592R says, NUMBER IT to something that means something to you. But DO NUMBER IT!!! You'll be glad you did.

BTW, I'm changing my numbers from the drop shadow to a solid number style. Looks a bit better I think.

Yes, I've seen Heritages without #.

I however have the same # as yours! #8. The reason I chose 8 because the heritage color'd GT won in 68, I conincidentally happen'd to sign the sale contract on August 8th, 8 with the blank white round back ground= 8 ball, and 8 is a lucky number. My 2nd choice was either 7 or 13...... I personally think the car looks better and more "complete" with a number.

Clear bra your car WITHOUT a number and put the number of your choice on top of the clear bra. This way, nothings FOREVER. We have done this many times and no one know the difference.

When I had my Heritage 3M'd my guy chose to become a surgeon and hand cut around the black pin stripe tape (Yes its tape and not paint) that separates the Orange & Blue. He had to redo another Heritage nose and the tape lifted. My $.002

For whatever it's worth, I didn't do a number. The previous owner "filled in" the center space (under the door) and I like the look. Also, I'm of the opinion that, if it's not a race car, it shouldn't have a number. Just my opinion though and no disrespect to anyone else's beliefs.

Number it!

It really needs a number...preferably single digit.

I put the clear bra on my painted stripped GT but not on my Heritage as I was told it would pull off the tape on the Heritage. Chose # 6 as it was the closest finish for Le Mans.

All the black pin stripe on the heritage is, is a black tape. If it gets pulled off, it is very easy to replace. Nothing I would worry about in the least!
