I had the 2.7 pulley installed about two weeks ago (I also got the tune/bolts/lowering kit). I've have just noticed a squeaking sound that pulsates with engine RPM. I only hear it when the engine is cold and it only lasts for about 10 minutes. I am assuming it is just a little slack in the belt that is more pronounced when the belt is cold and less flexible.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a good fix?

I have a BONE stock 06 with 700 miles and just started squeaking also. I started it cold and took a water bottle and sprayed the supercharger belt and still made noise. I next sprayed the main belt with water and yep that was it, noise went away only for a couple of seconds. I left the GT running and took my pressure washer and sprayed the main belt and idlers and I have not heard the noise again.

Unless a larger idler pulley was installed or a power steering pump spacer you are getting belt slip. When it's cold, it is just more pronounced, and this is likely what you are hearing.

Are you using the stock belt?

The "GT Guys" did the pulley job. I assume they used the stock belt but I am not sure. I also agree that this seems to be the most likely source of the noise. The belt gets cold resting on the 2.7" pulley and holds that shape until it warms up. I should probably just move to warmer climate and be done with it.

Has anyone else with the 2.7" pulley changed the belt or enlarged the idler pulley?

WhenI had a pulley done

When they did mine.In the box of stock parts back, was my stock belt.
But i had someone else do the job.

stock pully and mine squeeks when cold. I'll try Tommy's suggestion next spring.

I've got the Roush 2.8" pulley and it comes with a new belt. No squeek to date.

And what power did the 2.8" pulley yield? With or without tune?

I know of two cars with the 2.8" Roush pulley, both of which have not been tuned, and the increased hp is about 50. If my memory on this is correct Roush sell the pulley and belt for a few hundred dollars... amazing value when you consider what Porsche charges for a 35 hp "engine upgrade" on a 911. I felt good using a Roush pulley because of their work in the original development of the car and the guys at Roush in the UK who installed it were so knowledgable about servicing the car.

P.S. I only did the pully so I'd have a faster car than Neilda... which I clearly have now.

Just an update for future squeaky belt searchers....

The dealer replaced two belts when I took it in. No more squeak!

I have the Hennessey 2.63 pulley and just installed the Heffner exhaust with baffles and now have an exhaust squeak or whistle???? Noticed it when I picked it up...
