Wife is getting a 2012 Explorer for a company car. She forgot to order the heated seats and wants them now (car will be arriving at Price Ford, Port Angeles, WA, 0n Jan 2) . Anyone have experience installing aftermarket seat heaters in a like vehicle? Recommendations on a vendor for the seat heaters? Thanks. DJ.

The heating elements are probably integrated into the seat, so it would involve a seat swap out. Chances are the stubs are in the wiring harnesses to the seats. However, the controls for the heaters may or may not be present (but blank) in the console.

factory heated seats.... Pretty much not an option after its already built. There are aftermarket heated seat kits, but they are involved, and kind of cheezy to me. Buy her some hot hands and tell her to still those in her pants on cold mornings. :)

Well, I don't think it would be that hard - especially if you enlist the help of an upholstery shop. This is my wishful thinking! About a year ago we bought Cindy an Audi A3 TDI Diesel with the Titanium package. (The titanium package'd cars were and continue to be very rare.) Anyway, the car is loaded - save for seat heaters. And women LOVE seat heaters!! Anyway, both of us really like the Audi. I just did a back and forth to San Diego last week at an average speed of about 80mph and got a genuine 40mpg in a VERY comfortable car. I digress.

I ordered the following seat heater kit about a week or 10 days ago. This will be Cindy's xmas gift! Yes, yes, I know I am quite the giver! I plan to remove the seats and take them to an uphostery shop to get the pads put in. I'll yell and criticize Ryan as he does the wiring.... then I'll take full credit for the gift! Here's the link...
