I have a customer that has a Ford Gt and has ripped the driver seat. I own an upholstery shop and cannot get the leather for the seats. I have tried Ford and they willl not sell it to me. The owner doesnot want to spend the $3500 for a new seat. Does anyone know where I can purchase a used seat? Or maybe had luck getting the leather? Any help would be great. I will not do a leather repair, never looks right.

Please do a search. The upholsterer for the GTX1 was in Green Bay. The seats came direct from Sparco, so Ford has no leather for it. Somewhere in the old posts is a listing for the guy that did the GTX1.

One lucky SOB to own a GT
We met the guys who did all the leather interior for the FGT at Rally I at the Saleen plant. It was a German company. I don't remember their name but I bet someone at Saleen in Troy could find it for you.
When I first was contacted about this job, I contacted Sparco. They designed the seat for Ford, after that it was up to ford. Anyway after some searching I was told what leather is used on the seats. Thanks

Since Ford and Jag have a connection, Ford can get really good leather for its primo car and not the domestic stuff it puts in its less than vehicles.

I believe in another post you said Jaguar was the source of the leather for the Ford GT seats. If so, this is excellent knowledge to have. In anticipation of someday needing work done, I also contacted Sparco regarding the leather. They were very kind, and said to simply contact a Sparco dealer who would then have "no problem" ordering the leather. They indicated any competent upholsterer could replace/repair the leather seat once they received the material.

That is really no big deal since the tanneries for leather are located throughout Asia due to environmental and other issues.
When I contacted Sparco I was told to go through ford. If you need leather you can also get in touch with an upholstery shop, like me, and we can get it also. Just tell them that you need Jaguar leather, and they can get it from a supplier. Anyway, If you need repairs, dont pay the big bucks for a new seat. The leather can be had.

Does anyone know a source for touchup dye for the Sparco seats? I've got a small flaw I'd like to try to fix, but I'm afraid to just get "generic black" dye. I don't know if there is enough scrap leather under the seat that I could send a sample to Leatherique for a custom color match..
