I bought a 2nd set of the optional BBS wheels. I had my friend PS these options for my wheels.

I'm pretty sure it'll be the black wheel (that's what I asked for the PShop on), but he threw an orange my way too. Anyway, I like the black as I think it looks pretty racy, and probably I'll go with the orange lip. Your thoughts? Is it too much?

Hey Pro,

I too am planning on having my wheels painted.

Who will be painting your wheels? Does the company specialize in painting wheels?

Cheers

They all are not bad at all, but I think that the orange trim looks great.

Pro,

I can't vote.

You didn't give me this option.

Just a little teaser for what's to come.

Spirit, LOVE IT. My 911's GT3 wheels are like that, with the silver lip.

I've got the optional wheels for the GT, so it's a different look, but those cast wheels look the biz!!!

Yup. Orange lip is a "trim" piece VISUALLY. And the orange on the body is essentially "trim" from a side view as well. That visual combo in those proportions flows well. So, that's the way I'd go too.

That said, Chris painted the centers of his STD wheels orange - and that looks great too. :cheers

...clean off all the paint(silver) and triple chrome plate and polish the full wheel.

I would do the blue lip on one side and orange on the other. I would also just do the small pinstripe type line instead of the entire lip. We paint wheels all the time. If any of you guys want us to do it, let me know and I will quote you a price.

This is a really nice look. It's really too bad that the stock wheels are significantly heavier than the optioned wheels. To me, they have a simpler, classic, utilitarian look (don't forget that for OCD's they are easier to clean). But the weight, unsprung weight DQ's them from the get go else I'd switch in a flash.
Re the painting, I think Porsche has the tm, copyright, whatever on pumpkin-covered wheels (or kürbis perhaps). But their GT3RS cars - pumpkin body/black wheels, silver/pumpkin, black/pumpkin all look outstanding in a way that no other car does - regarding the painted wheel. Even our gals.
So FWIW, silver or black. IMHO of course :)

For a Heritage, I always kinda liked the wheel colors on GT40 P/1075. :thumbsup

Pro,

The second picture, black with orange, looks GREAT!! How about do another picture showing silver (stock) with orange lip? That might look good as well....

Those wheels are one of the first things that caught my eye when I first saw (age 9 or so) the original. I had a visually similar set (American Racing I think) on my 914 in grad school (I know, many historic and good car taste violations here) to try to recreate the look.
I know that some have tried to have them reproduced for the new gal. Too bad they are only a (photo) memory.

For a Heritage, I always kinda liked the wheel colors on GT40 P/1075. :thumbsup
