Yep, buuuuuut it's found in Bimmers too (maybe other makes as well, I don't know). The one in wifey's Bimmer is what go her started on her OnStar kick. But, I see what you mean as far as it being technically accurate to say that GM's doing the tracking. But, my stmt that the auto company's not doing the tracking is also accurate - at least vis-a-vis BMW! :tongue

An aside: According to an email I got from them a couple weeks ago, I guess they're now selling a 'universal' unit that can be installed in any vehicle. 'Replaces the stock RV mirror.

More on On-Star:

A friend was at Daytona Speedway a few months back - on the banking at 160 mph plus - after a failed cell call to him (he did not hear the phone ring with is helmet on and the all the wind noise) On Star was activated, by GM we presume, and put the vehicle into "Limp Mode". I think he went into 'limp mode' rather quickly too! A dangerous situation ensued...
