So, battery was dead... charged it and started it up.... noticed I was EMPTY!!!
Filled the tank with some extra 110 I had lying around...

Gas never came up and out, but noticed the big puddle below shortly after :frown

What happened? Tank was full, didn't notice ALL my gauges were on the fritz. Had I been more observant, I would have noticed all gauges weren't reading and would have performed the normal quick fix... to show exactly how much gas I had...

So, is there an overflow on our Tanks that is below the body etc....?

There is an overflow tube that dump excess gas below the car. It comes into play if you have gas above the flapper valve.

when I first bought the car and filled it up - gas gauge was "E"... shut off, restart and 2 sec's later came up... wrote it off to battery and "new" with 8 miles.....

to date no problems outside of other gauge anomalies.... Tach freaked out once and just pegged for few seconds etc.

also learned that when filling and nozzle shuts off - STOP... any more and you'll end up with the smell of premium in the interior. As BlackIce states there is a run off above the flapper that seeps to the bottom of the fender when you push to much

Agreed with all above comments. It wasn't the 1st time my gauges freaked on me and I knew how to fix it... turn off, then on... always seems to work.

As far as the pump shutting off. I was using a funnel and a 5 gallon gas tank, so no automatic "CLICK" ya know :wink

But, thanks for the confirmation to there being a "Dump Hose" below the flapper... :cheers

keep your battery charger in the lighter port all the time and keep the battery charged. I keep mine in and never have a problem with the start.

He means the OEM Ford Charger Cigarette lighter port. All cars came with one in zippered pouch; its $85 via dealers. Battery Tender jr. makes one too with adapter too for $20.

The OEM charger was derided early for its lack of status light, chip and basic design.

I think its beauty is its 25ft long cord and ease of use. I know others have chip-enabled chargers, grill-ports, and others use cables at battery; but with so many dead batteries, it seems many blow this off at times, whether its forgetting, hassle of bending down to connect @ front port or locating charger, or connecting cables.

Mine is plugged into wall-jack 24/7 and cigarette port sits on side of my garage floor; its plugged in after every drive and is part of my closedown routine: put in jack, arm alarm, cover, etc.; my Nephew even knows to hand it over when i open the door.

Lighter port???

It's just above the center console on the dash. It's covered by a black rubber-like "plug". (Next to the start button if I remember right.)
