The development of the Ford GT1 is now complete!

Matech Competition are pleased to announce that the development of our updated Matech Ford GT1 car is now complete, and manufacture is in progress, in good time for the start of a new season in 2010.

Martin Bartek, Team Principal and Owner of Matech Competition: "I am delighted with the improved car. Each and every area of the car has seen improvements from both a performance and reliability perspective. We have successfully tested each individual area of the car, and now we look forward to testing the whole package over the next few weeks. I am incredibly proud of my team, who has worked tirelessly over the past few months to get everything in place to ensure we are competitive right from the start.”

The new cars are now in their build stage, following enhancements to powertrain, suspension and aerodynamics. The Matech Ford GT1 will be officially unveiled in February 2010 as part of our preparations for the full season in the new GT1 World Championship.

Matech Competition is a highly professional Swiss racing team and we are in discussion with a number of Swiss young and talented drivers, amongst other candidates, for the coming GT1 World Championship season. We are also in negotiations with Swiss Corporations aiming at an overall Swiss entry into the GT1 World Championship.

Another exciting prospect for us are the recently held meetings with the Automobile Club de l’Ouest about a possible application to race in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2010. More updates will follow as we progress on our journey for GT1 racing in next year.

In the meantime, we invite you to join our momentum towards 2010 and beyond with our new Matech Ford GT1 car by watching our short clip at: www.matech-competition.ch/momentum

You can also keep up to date with all of our GT1 plans and activities on our website by signing up at: www.matech-competition.ch

Editor’s notes:
Matech Concepts SA is a Swiss based motorsport company founded in 2007. Matech GT Racing, also set up in 2007, originally competed with the Ford Mustang and Ford GT3, securing the FIA GT3 European Team Championship title in 2008 in only its second year of competition. In 2009, Matech GT Racing continued to race the Matech Ford GT3, securing victory in its class at the 24 hours of Spa at the first attempt and finishing the season as FIA GT3 European Vice-Champions. Additionally during 2009, Matech Competition was created to focus exclusively on GT1 racing activities worldwide.

Gentlemen,

Le Mans is a major hassle and a huge circus. BUT....I'm with Joe. If the Ford GT returns to Le Mans I will be there as well. A couple years ago we failed in an attempt to attend with our cars. The moment it is announced that the Matech team has secured a spot on the grid at Le Mans, I will look into putting together some first class accomodations and access for GT Forum Members with the help of some of our european owners. This time without the cars.

FGT's at LM is still a big IF at this point. We'll keep our fingers crossed.

Chip

Indeed it is a possibility we are working on. Lots of factors to consider, but should it happen, we will be delighted to see you all. And of course you must get up close and personal with the cars and the team. :)

I went to Le Mans last year it's easy to get there, i took a train from Paris because i was unable to find a place to stay in Le Mans.

My advice would be to find a place to stay A.S.A.P.

No room at the inn.

Lorenzo,

That's what I was referring to. There are always quality hotel rooms available, even close to the event, packaged with grandstand seating and transportation. Just add money. No matter how early you book, there are no deals on good accommodations at Le Mans. I'm not going to start anything until the Maytech Team has the green light. :cheers

Cheers,

Chip

I'm interested in going Chip. I've been three previous times but always stayed at the track all night. Took the train to/from Paris. It is about a 2 hour trip.

If matech races, I'm there. I stay in a small town called Tours, the hotel is about $400.00 per night and it's an hour bus ride from Le Mans and goes back and forth twice a day.

Does anyone want to go regardless? I'm thinking I might just go and hang out in London for a week and see some old friends and then head to Paris before the race.

The 24 Hours LeMans is June 12 and June 13, 2010. I'll be there!
For 2009, I missed it by a week.... I attended the British GP at Silverstone a week later. I should have checked before I booked the trip. :frown

May well take you up on that very kind offer....it would have to be there for a couple of days, and might have to have some stickers on it :)
