From the door design that made it hard to get in and out of the car ¾ of the time to the uncomfortable plastic seats,....

Plastic????? Where did that come from?

And "T Top design doors?" I think the writer was rolling his own...

I've read this before. Dumb.

Ed

Skinny jean wearing auto-mag journos...

Lotta these quacks writing drivel

Are the T tops removeable ?
The only plastic is the shrouding around the steering wheel
I did enjoy the article though

'Not real unusual to hear someone refer to c.f. as "plastic"...at least around here in my assisted living facility.

If one opens both doors and looks at the roof (or what's left of it), it does remind one of the T-top on a 'Vette with the panels removed, no?

I need to go back to bed...:old:

OK Pockets, I'll buy that, at least as long as the guy isn't out there all day long trying to remove the T Tops ala a C3 Vette.

Some nice photos.

Hi everyone,

I'll be revising the plastic seat part as well as t-top design as they don't seem to reflect what I was trying to share. Tonight the revision will be reflected on the website.

Don't get me wrong, the GT is one of my favorite cars. These two areas were simply the ones that disappointed me on the car. The door design is great to look at and use when you can fully open the doors but is not that convenient in more restrained areas. My description as a T-top might of been off.

As for the seats, the material used did not feel as premium as I would of expected. To the look they do somewhat look like plastic and sitting on them you would think that's what they are made of. My own personal opinion on that part.

Cheers,

Nice of you to check in and respond. The 2 issues mentioned may be to everyone's own interpretation and the doors can be problematic in tight spaces which we all avoid. I thought the the article contained some great photos and presented the GT in a very positive light.
Thanks

To be fair he is absolutely right that the doors are not particularly convenient. However to just view them in their functionality alone is to miss the point of the GT, and the homage it pays to its heritage, completely.

The seat leather is Poltrona Frau. May be the first time Frau leather was described as "plastic."

Does the author know the original functionality of the doors? This is a wonderful example of form following function.

I also think the suspension is tight but "compliant" by supercar standards.

The article has been revised to better describe the seats and cut-off roof doors instead of the T-top adjective I mistakenly used originally. Sorry about the initial confusion in my description.

To answer Xcentric & mal, I do know of their original function of this door design but did not want to elaborate on every little detail of the GT in this article.

Except for these two small points that caused some controversy on the forum I hope you still enjoyed the images and text.

All the best,

Charles

Well, every little detail of the GT is brilliant, and worth savoring. I would bet that most of your readers do not know the function of the doors. I have explained this dozens of times to spectators at car shows, and have yet to meet one who knew.

Every detail of this car reflects heritage. The heritage of one of the greatest cars in auto racing history. I think the details are important. The details tell the story better than brief seat of the pants driving impressions.

Charles, I enjoyed the article as I just read your "edited" version. I loved the images as well. Also, I enjoyed reading the article on the McLaren and the Heritage GT. Beautiful images. Thanks for giving Ford GT's major props.

Great article, nice photo's and all the gauges were even working in the picture!!!
