for GT owners who have clear bra'd their cars, how much of the car did you cover?

i am going to do the entire front end, the rocker panels, bottom rear of the car (behind the wheels), and the headlights/foglights.

however, i am also wondering if i should do the doors on either side (for door dings), the air inlets in the side panel, and the upper part of the rear fenders.

i feel like i am putting a damn condom on my car, but i want to keep it protected as much as reasonably possible.

your opinions on extra coverage would be appreciated.

My roof is covered, and at the rally it got scraped. Looked like brand new after the clear bra was replaced.

I did the side scoops, basically where the FGT stripes are on the door, also a good one, the door sills. I have seen the roof done, I did not.

In addition to what you're doing (but NOT the doors), I also did the side scoops (including the leading edge of the scoop) and a 1/2 to 3/4" strip across the front of the roof (windshield line). Basically anywhere that has the potential to get a direct rock or a self thrown tire rock. Someone scratched my front bra (right near the Ford Oval) [doesn't look like it was truly intentional, looked more like someone tried to wipe something off and scratched it as a result], and all it took was a simple replacement of the vinyl to have the car perfect again. Never gonna be that easy if it needed paint.

I use Venture guard.

I hate dings and dents, but over all the years loving cars, when I saw a cool sports car with a little rock chipping, it just seemed to be the desirable patina of usage.

Of course they did not have clear bra back then. :bored

I think he intended to write - Venture Shield. It least that's what is was called until 3M bought them (in '08). At that time it was superior to 3M as it didn't yellow w/age and less orange peel (from the 3M tech people).

I assume you asking about the yellowing of the 3M? At least as recently as last year.

As there was much discussion on earlier threads here, so I had my local installer provide one extra piece of each material that I subsequently applied to the back of my (silver) cell phone. Now, every time someone says there is no difference, or 3M doesn't yellow, I just flip over my phone. And that's from UV exposure in Michigan ~ no less.

Sounds like you're going driving...better consider venture shield for the windshield...saves a lot of micro-pitting & easy to replace.

Oh yah, I forgot, I also had my windshield done. That's a good one to do.

I've used Expel with great results .. no yellowing. nose, hood, front fenders, lower valance to rear defuser, front of scoops, and on this car inside rear tire well (to protect the clamshell)

Interesting, how did it turn out? Others have described how they were discouraged to do this by installers.

Be careful on the headlights. Use a thinner film or it could possibly trap heat.

I had nice results with Venture Shield on the car body.

Venture Shield is a manufacturer. They have product available in different thicknesses.

If you do decide to cover the lights, ask the installer about a thinner film.
