Went out for breakfast this morning with my bro and his family. I had him take one of his daughters and drive the GT and followed in his Lexus. It is thoroughly enjoyable watching your GT cruising down the street :) I hope this never wears off. He loved the car. Was amazed what an easy driver and how well the clutch and gearbox worked. He's driven the Nascar experience deal and went pretty fast on an oval in Vegas and was in love with the GT and how well they drive. What a spectacular ride. Sorry for the new owner drool thread :) I love this car.

It's a little disconserting how people forget what they are doing while gawking. I was at a busy intersection and the guy leading the through traffic in the opposite direction was so busy staring that when the green left arrow went on, he proceeded into the intersection and damn near ran into traffic turning left. People were laying on the horn and he realized he had ran a red light and skidaddled on through the intersection but damn. I don't want to be held responsible for causing an accident because people are not paying attention to driving while gawking lol

You warned me brutha... You weren't lying about the whole Rock Star thing :) I have to admit just following my bro around this morning I had to remind myself to keep my eyes on the road vs just staring uncontrollably at the GT. It's like a hot female. You just can't help yourself lol

I am still waiting for the fun to wear off...............still waiting.....................okay I give up...............the fun is not going to wear off!!! :lol

Seriously, get used to the gawkers, the 20 minute fill-ups at the gas station and give up waiting for the thrill to wear off. The GT is the one. Glad you are enjoying your new car. :cheers

I filled up this morning and had a nice Challenger R/T pull up. They all piled out and came over and looked it up and down. Honestly everywhere you go it doesn't matter what other folks are driving, they fall over themselves to get a look. You can definitely tell who are the car guys and gals. Some people drive right past and don't give a glance. You have to wonder how boring their lives must be to be that oblivious to such a work of art :)

Here's a lil' "insight" regarding most of these people: they don't wanna let you SEE 'em looking! It's kinda snobbery in reverse. They don't wanna "give you the satisfaction" as it were. Seriously.

I told this story quite some time ago, but, it illustrates 'zactly what I'm referring to here:

'Drove by an "oncoming" pedestrian one day whom I could tell was just f-i-g-h-t-i-n-g to keep his eyes "straight ahead" and not acknowledge the GT's presence. I told 'wifey, "Watch your side mirror, Carolyn. I GUARANTEE he WILL turn around for a quick peek as soon as we pass by him. You'll see. He won't be able to stand it." In preparation for same, I lowered the driver's side window...and when he did in FACT turn around - I waved at him!!! He spun back around so quick I bet he had to see his chiropractor that day! :lol

I am truely a rotten person... :biggrin

Shelby's right. I call it the GT Gaze. They just gaze at it. Many times with an open mouth.

I've had people lean out their car windows... driver and/or passenger waving and yelling in excitment. I've had the usual cell camera photos taken, video cameras filming while they were driving next to me.

Even if you park it all by itself, within 15 minutes of leaving the car there is a crowd of people that develope quickly around the car. Kinda like ants finding a picnic basket. Sometimes it gets me a bit nervous and don't want to leave it long. Kinda like not wanting to leave a 3 year old alone.

Just last night had the car parked while eating dinner outside at an italian restaurant. Escalade pulls in, guy gets out, kneels down by the side of my GT, a guy still in the Escalade leans out with a camera and takes a picuture of the other guy next to my GT, guy gets back into the Escalade, they leave.

Yeah, you just kinda get used to people going nuts over it after a while. Yawn. :wink

What a car!:banana

I could not agree more with EP amd his take on this situation is exactly right from my experiences

Half the fun of owning these cars is the interaction with the public , I swear I could stand there all day talking about the car if someone will stand there and ask questions

On the other hand I notice so many peolple just dont want to give you the satisfaction , I dont know whether they are shy , green with envy , or whatever

I drove the car down the freeway just the other day and I stayed in the right lane so I could watch the publics reaction in my drivwers mirror while in their vehicles , I dont think there was even 1 car that the people were not going gah , gah in , they will sloww down and hang around your blind spot taking a look , however when they get right up beside you and you want to give them a little thank you nod they are mostly not looking , just looking staright ahead

It is a shame .

Drove it this morning for a bit and had some little kids trying to take pics out the side window without being seen. I pulled up beside them and rolled down the window and said hi. The looks on their faces was worth every penny. I ask one what he liked about it. He said emphatically EVERYTHING! I was the same way myself when I was 6 lol. Lots of fun. I heard their mom tell them to ask me how many tickets I've gotten LMAO.

I would have a major OCD episode if my car ever got rained on lol. I'm not afraid to put my foot in it when I do drive it but not a chance in hell this car comes out of the garage if there are threatening skies. Did a little 4th gear blast to 160 early this morning on a deserted 3 lane wide stretch :) I also think the car slides very predictably...

We were leaving a restaurant one day and I noticed two boys (one about 14 or so...one about 8) BLAST out thru the restaurant's entrance door to watch us leave. I figgered, 'what the hay', 'pulled over to the side of the driveway and stopped...'got outta the car and asked the kids if they wanted to take a closer look.

YA THINK MEBBE??????!!! :rofl:rofl:rofl

...We pbly left there about 20 mins later! But, I betcha that lil' experience was all those two kids ( and pbly their parents too!) talked about for 2 weeks! :lol

Kids are real. They're not afraid to show you how they feel. One of my earliest memories is when I was probably 4-5 years old. A guy who worked for my dad pulled up in a 1970 Hemi Cuda. It was yellow with a black vinyl roof. I remember getting in the passenger seat and that it had a pistol grip shifter. I was totally enthralled. My first car when I turned 16 was a 71 Challenger. In the three weeks I've owned this car, kids by far and away are the ones that let you know how much they like the car. I'll roll down the window or stop every time :)
