Got mine today and I noticed that I could install them on top of the existing sills. Anyone done that or should I go ahead and pull off the originals before I stick them in place. I assume that if I remove the originals the parts would sit a little better in the recess.

you are correct. I used some small dabs of silicone instead of the tape which will make the project 321 pieces easier to remove if need be,,
