Got an email from Donny Mac here on the board today wondering if I wanted to go and watch the 1967 MK IV GT40 be unloaded at the Chaparral Museum for an event we are sponsoring this weekend...

WHAT AN AWESOME OPPORTUNITY!!!!

I grabbed my 18 month old... strapped the car seat into the Heritage and headed that way. We were each given a pair of white gloves and told that in exchange for photos we would be required to push. NO PROBLEM :banana

Here is a couple of pics I snapped off my iPhone... needless to say making sure I had my son and all his stuff I FORGOT MY CAMERA :ack

Donny had his so there should be some good pics of his Yellow Heritage, my Heritage and this incredible piece of history.

I know Frank... GO RED :cheers

Ford GT40 Mk IV

The Mk IV was built around a reinforced J chassis powered by the same 7.0 L engine as the Mk II. Excluding the engine, the Mk IV was totally different from other GT40s, using a specific chassis and specific bodywork. As a direct result of the Miles accident, the team installed a NASCAR-style steel-tube roll cage in the Mk. IV, which made it much safer but negated most of the weight saving of the honeycomb-panel construction. Dan Gurney often complained about the weight of the Mk IV, since the car was 600 pounds heavier than the Ferraris it raced.

The Mk. IV ran in only two races, the 1967 12 Hours of Sebring and the 1967 24 Hours of Le Mans but won both events.[6] The installation of the roll cage was ultimately credited by many with saving the life of Mario Andretti, who crashed violently in a Mk. IV during the 1967 Le Mans, but escaped with minor injuries. Unlike the earlier Mk.I,II and III cars, which were entirely British, the Mk. IVs were built in America by Shelby. A total of 6 were constructed.

Peak,

Great pictures and opportunity, thanks.

Why doesn't your first picture taken with your iPhone show up on my computer? I get a square with a red X. Your second post of the multiple GT40s does display properly. Are you using different formats for the two posts?

When I click on your link, it says "Access Denied" which is caused by our server nazi's blocking almost everything. Just curious why one picture is not being shown, but the others are OK.
