Found a link on the Lemans site for those interested. Basically comes down to BHP and Weight:

GT1 cars with a power output that can reach 560bhp with a minimum weight of 1,200kg or 600 bhp with a minimum weight of 1,250kg

GT2 cars are 450-500 BHP min weight 1145kg

It sounds like there will be no LM GT1 category for Le Mans in 2011.

I'm not sure what this means for the Ford GT and indeed Matech at Le Mans...

If they compete again in GT2 then it's going to be awesome because it will be like old times.... Porsche, Ferrari, Astin Martin, BMW, Corvettes etc.... Unless they up the BHP to match GT1 from this year the GT's would have to reduce HP to compete in GT2 it seems like.

Here are a bunch of Matech GT photos you can download or use as screensavers or background or print out, waiting for them to post some from Lemans:

Hats off...

Congratulations to local Charleston, SC hot-shoe Leh (pronounced Lee) Keen for finishing 2nd (only 2 laps down from the winner!) in this week-end's Le Mans in GT-2. I've watched Leh's progression since he was in high school!

LMGT2
No.77 – Team Felbermayr-Proton – Wolf Henzler/Richard Lietz/Marc Lieb – 338L
No.89 – Hankook Team Farnbacher – Allan Simonsen/Dominik Farnbacher/Leh Keen – +2L
No.97 – BMS Scuderia Italia – Marco Holzer/Richard Westbrook/Timo Scheider – +11L

Watch this kid - he's going far. :thumbsup
