Spent all day at Gateway Raceway for a charity driving event for Children's Hospital of St. Louis. Had a great day. Only nine drivers and cars (a group of five and a group of four). Really good instruction and I feel like I really learned a lot for a change, since this is an unforgiving track (lots of concrete). Did spin out (but not off the track) once cause I lifted off the go pedal in an S turn. Weather was good. Other cars, a Diablo (blew it's oil out), F360 Spider, MB E365 AMG, a new Maserati, a couple BMW 645's and some Porsches (mostly Caymen). Guess which car got the most attention? Yessirreee, the RED Ford GT.
At lunch there was supposed to be some rides for sick kids, but only one 10 year old showed up. Guess what car he chose? THE RED American sports car! Did a few 60 mph parade laps with him and he was all smiles when we were done.
When the instructor first got in to drive, I told him the last guy to sit in that seat other than me was Mark McGowan. All in all, a very rewarding day. I was very impressed with the sound of the Borla. Guess I never paid much attention to it before, but the other drivers said it reminded them of a 747. Got 10 mpg and drove about 75 track miles.
