When we unveiled the Matech Ford GT's a couple of weeks back I recall one younger (teens) gentleman asking me if he could sit in the car. Of course we said - go for it! He jumped in and got out of the car and proceeded to shake my hand and say thank you (rare for kids these days!). Then he looked me directly in the eye and said "I'm going to own one of these cars some day!" I let him know that I loved his passion and proceeded to mention he should never lose the vision he has and always go for it due to life being short. He thanked me again and came back a few minutes later with an SVT poster with a GT on it and asked myself and Greg to sign it for him.
It's always great to see kids that share the same passion we do. I'm around many cars and car events each year and never saw a car command so much attention as the Ford GT. It says something for the future collectability and enthusiasm for the car itself. We're all fortunate to own a true piece of history, but we are just caretakers for the next owners.
The younger gent mentioned above asked me for my business card, so I gave it to him. He followed up with me through facebook and asked if I'd like the pictures he took from the weekend festivities.
