Kind of overcast/rainy in central Va, so boredom took over. Washed/polished 3 of the cars. Used a very high end Zymol on 2 and Zaino on one---damned if I can tell any difference. (except about $175)

After 30 years of waxing I think I have concluded any decent product is as good as the next. The important thing is doing it regularly.

Now I am trying to get the energy to tackle the Vipers, et al.:wink

I now use a waterless car wash with a Carnuba wax built in. $15.00 a bottle and good for 10 washes. Car shines like I've never seen and it takes far less time, and obviously, no water. Even the wheels /brakedust etc...are simple and quick to do. I never wax the cars anymore and they are always showroom shine! No more water washes for me. I've even done the bottom of the Z06/ Viper and my GT's...and they look newer than new. I've been down the Zaino road and Maguires M26 etc...they have nothing on the waterless wash I use. To get an even greater shine, I use a quick detail spray after they're done - takes like 10 minutes a car. Can't beat it! They even have a waterless wash for the tires that makes 'em shine once done as well...and it's quick. I just use a fair amount of microfiber and shop towels.

Good point. But for me , this is mindless fun. I travel a lot. Being home and just fooling with the cars is a good time, but Jason, not as good as the Ritz , most of which i have stayed at -- for work. Have fun.

please comment on the use of the 'waterless' waxing. Does it not create microscopic scratches and swirl marks on dark colors.? I use a lot of water to wash to 'float' all the grit off the car first...then wax.
bottom liine --does waterless scratch the paint??

I use this one, but there are many out there and I suspect they all do a good job. Just look for one that has the Carnuba wax in it. http://gocleanwaterless.com/products/waterless-carwash

The good ones use a polymer and lubricant to lift the dirt without scratching...but my cars are Yellow/Orange/White and Red. The White/Blue GT however, does not show ANY swirls or scratches on the Dark Blue stripe...not anything that I can see under daylight of under my 5000K high intensity garage lighting. FWIW, my garage is about 1100 SQ FT with a 12 ft ceiling, and I'm putting about 48,000 lumens to the ground. If there were going to be any scratching, I'd see it under that light.

My table tennis room that has 139200 lumens in 600 sqft.

My 4 bay garage has 185600 lumens, don't know the exact sqft.

I love light!

I was wrong, just checked again...96000 lumens in my garage. 185600 lumens in your garage is very bright, especially if you're running cool white. 139200 in your ping pong room must give you sunburn. LOL That's a serious amount of light dude...

Using 5000K 4' T8 bulbs. If it was a comercial building the codes in CA won't allow you to use so many watts per sqft.

T5's are what I was using at my old home and what I use at my office. They're pretty serious lights...
In my garage I had 9 4-bulb (54 watt) T5 fixtures and 1 6-bulb (54 watt) T5 fixture, to illuminate 720 SQ FT. I could get sunburn in there.
Now, I'm using flush mounted LED panels...which are far more efficient and put down the same or more lumens as a 4-bulb 5000K 54-watt T5, but using only 119 watts. I believe each panel puts down around 11,900 lumens. I just know I can't look at them directly or I'll be blind for a few minutes. :)

When my detached garage was built last year, they put in T8s. Because it has a high ceiling they should have used T5s. I replaced all 4 overhead units with T5 s. I have no idea what the lumens are, but you could perform surgery in there now.

You can mount single fluorescent caged or waterproof fixtures along the wall about 3' up to get light where you really need it. These lights are very useful next to a lift.

A lot of aircraft cleaning services use waterless now, but I'm still thinking they are wiping dirt. Waterless seems ok if the car is basically pretty clean, but if you've got true grime or any amount of reasonable road dust I think I'd still give it a quick rinse off first. But it sounds like
FBA has had good results.

Especially if you can get them to wash and wax the car :)
