We know that most of you know of us and what we do but we are in the process of coming up with a few ideas. This one is an autodimming mirror with outside temperature, compass, map and dome lights. We plan on making this a direct replacement with an overlay harness that will not modify the car existing wiring at all and the car could be returned to completly stock if needed.

Stay tuned we have a few more ideas in the pipeline.

The next time our paths cross you can do the install.

Your timing is good as I received 2 of the mirrors today with the display for back-up camera built in however (I knew in advance) that they do not have interior lighting built in which is why two were purchased so that I can disassemble one and see if I can integrate lights into it and if so integrate at least one into a GT in my facility

It is a very nice OEM style mirror with auto dimmer ; in fact is an option on some Ford's

Here are a few pictures of the OEM mirror with the video display built in

FYI the display is 2" x 1 1/2" so not much smaller than the one in the JVC stero head unit and for backup purposes being integrated in the mirror would IMO be a better place for this application.

Please put me on the list. The camera option would be over the top.

Shadowman, it appears there is enough space for some LEDs. I would recommend some high output LEDs from Luxeon, or CREE. I got a CREE Q5 LED light, the thing is the brightess small flashlight I have ever seen. Too much for the inside of the car! Two 1 Watt LEDs with a diffusor would probably be best.

If you use 2 of these with the diffusors would be over 400 lumens. More light than a 40 watt incadesent house bulb.

Or a row of 10 or so standard white LEDs would work good enough and would be easier to install, but would be way less light.

Mirror

I will need to research the V1 more. I did research an autodimming mirror with the homelink in it but I was told that they were no longer available so we bought the last few that they had and they are already installed. The one in the top of the post is only one that we were planning on supplying. True there will always be opportunities for custom applications but this is were we wanted to start.

Rich, after sitting all afernoon at Ford dealership and looking through all the car literature there, all the current models offer an autodimming, homelink mirror. They appeared to me to be the same mirror for all the Ford models (Focus thru F-150).

PS will send package this week to you guys with new tools. Frank

*** Clarification ***

Let me begin by sharing that in retrospect I should not have made mention of the mirror that I am working on; particularly within this thread.

I was reading the thread and saw Bony's comment and then without giving it any thought the fingers began typing.

Here is the reality; the mirror that The GT Guys have selected and are prepared to offer has the cool features (sadly no beer tap) that most have come to expect and enjoy and then add to this it is a an OEM style mirror with relative ease of integration.

The project that I am working on is for a specific gal and at the end of the day will not be marketed piece; I was simply sharing at item that is being worked on at this time. I do this with many projects as the means to simply share ideas to all and not to encourage or create a direction.

Now in closing; I was under the impression that the OEM mirror was still available through Ford because it is still listed in their current parts catalog however I have been told that this is not longer the case as such I would suggest that you contact The GT Guys (734) 658 9498 if you have interest because cool products have a way of disappearing from the marketplace over time.

All the best

Shadowman
