Same as on an Escape. Don't have a number though.

That was looked up based on it being relative to the escape. Its not listed or in the diagram for the GT cap at all.

Mark, Wouldn't the part and its number show on the Ford Parts Dept microfish or computer for the fuel filler lid assembly? Fred

After I made the post, I thought about it. The bumper is from an older Escape. My 2002 and 2005 have the exact same bumper as the GT.

The local dealer, Jerk Madden Frod tells me that there is no part number for the bumper itself. :ack

Just so as I get it straight, I should order the fuel filler door bumper for a 2002 or 1005 Escape? :confused

By the way, why do they call it an Escape? Most people who buy them will have to make payments, so in essence, they're trapped for many a year in their Escape. :biggrin

I paid cash for mine, so no reason to escape. I think the 2002 thru 2005 all have the same bumper.

MarkO, can you take a picture of the bumper you recieved and post it? I'm not home this week, but will furnish a picture of the Escape bumper next weekend.

On my 2005 Escape co. car they are not the same. 7.83mm wide and 6.24mm tall. But if you install them upside down it looks like they will work. Pull the pointed part up through the hole instead of pushing it down.

I have seen something like the exact ones somewhere, maybe a console or cup holder lid bumper.

But I do think you can make them work by flipping them upside down. I would buy them and give it a try. They are located on the indside of cap door not the body, in case you parts guy needs more details.

OK, now that I can upload pictures, here they are.....

The original is on the left & the one I ordered for the Escape is on the right......

You can see that there aint no way that Escape bumper (at 10:00 o'clock) is going to fit in that hole....

So, anyone got another part number? :confused

It appears to be serviced only with the fuel door assy.

My dealer says the same thing. You have to replace the whole assembly.

Sorry to say but.....

the bumpers only come with the fuel door assembly. I just went through this with my car which was missing one from the factory. My dealer had to warranty the entire assembly. When the new assembly came in, I took the bumpers off and went on my merry way. The bumpers are apparently unique to the GT. The missing bumper actually made the door hard to open because it would not "spring up" when the latch was used. Tell the dealer you are having this problem. If your dealer gives you a hard time about replacing yours, let me know and I will send you the extra one I have.
