Anyone buying a matching Shelby in same color as GT

As ridiculous as this sounds, I am considerinf buying a Mustang Shelby GT500 in Red White Stripes, mainly b/c it looks like my Red GT.

Now I know this sounds cockamaimie, but I can't take the GT everywhere and the Shelby would be a nice everyday car. I have driven Mustangs (V6) via Hertz and they are quite fun.

Wish I could get a COPO ordered V8 in the $19,000 Mustang without doing the whole GT package add-ons.

I was going to get a matching GT500 for my GT, but I couldn't find any dealers in my area that were willing to cooperate.

Kayvan, I have purchased a Shelby to match my GT.....sounds vain, but of the 3 other GT's in the NY area that I know of...the owners all elected to do the same. In fact, this past weekend i saw one guy with a thungsten Shelby..and it is beautiful...looked like father and son..lol I am doing some suspension upgrades to the Shelby (all Steeda components) makes a world of difference in the handling of the Shelby.

We just purchased a brand new Shelby for a 1/4 mile track car in Grabber Orange. We can point you guys out to a few dealers we have worked with nationwide that are reasonable priced on them.

Waiting on pricing

I posted earlier that I too was looking for a Tungsten M-GT to match. I'm waiting for the crazies to get out of the way on pricing. I have an 11 yr old son and hope to hold the Tang be his first car. It ain't crazy, it's the dog factor. "Why does a dog lick his b...., cause he can".

Demand is way more than production.

We have sold our whole allocation for both years. And it seems many dealers are saying the same thing. Mr. Shelby has earned my respect he has a loyal following. Next year several other models may cut into the GT500 demand and that will free up some inventory for sale.

Two red rockets would look good in any garage and for the money the GT500 is a bargain.

Yeah, I've got one.

I didn't want to completely match, but I wanted the two cars to be complementary. I bought a blue/white stripe GT500 to go with my white/blue stripe GT.

Rocman - I have found that every California dealer is charging approximately $25K over sticker. On a Sunday afternoon I personally wasted 3 hours of my time sitting at Galpin Ford with $$$ in hand to order a Shelby the way I wanted it. They had the balls to tell me they had just sold one for $90K and was looking to sell them in that price range. I got up and laughed as I walked out. I immediately went to my office went on eBay and found a dealer only asking $15K over sticker. This was still to much IMO opinion but it was a lot better than $25K or even worse almost $50K at Galipin. I made an offer to do a deal outside of eBay for $12K over sticker and they accepted it. I have found many other dealers that we work with taking $10K - $12K over sticker if you contact them directly.

Best bet is to order from out of state and order it the way you want it. They can courtesy deliver it straight from Ford to your choice of dealership. I use www.vistaford.com here in Woodland Hills. They charged $500 for the delivery and the dealer I used to get my Shelby paid for it. Plus they did the whole transaction using my credit card for payment. Couldn't get any better than that :)

Too much hype IMO!

The Mustang is nice but come on, unless you're just looking to burn some cash. Before I paid 15k-25k over sticker for a Tang I'd just by another GT at sub sticker. The problem is that at this price point it opens the doors to alot of folks with more credit than sense. Don't get me wrong, I'm a full fledged capitalist, but as the saying goes, "A fool and his money are soon parted" and good luck to those that assist them.

I'm a grabber orange guy, got a 70 grabber orange BOSS 302 and ordered a grabber orange/white stripe Shelby but haven't taken delivery yet (car has been made but not delivered yet). I would have bought a grabber orange GT but of course they didn't come in that color so I got a red/white strpe instead. By the way my license plates for the Shelby are GT500 and for the FORD GT I have FORD GT!

That's exactly what they did to me. They would not consider anything under $45K over. I laughed at them and they were acting like their shit didn't smell. Man, Ford dealers can almost be more stuck up than Ferrari dealers when it comes to this damn car. 100% markup is crazy, but what is crazier is people are paying it. WTF is wrong with people!!!

I'll contact my dealer I got my GT from. I got to build my new garage first though.:lol

Okay if anyone wants a GT500 convertible contact the following guy:

Jace Grabouski

He said he will sell them at $10K over window sticker! These are the guys I bought my Shelby from.

I was at Saleen a few months ago for an open house (yes, they invited us GT guys as well). Steve Saleen was saying that they would build a Saleen Mustang for any GT owner to match. I saw some pictures and they look amazing.

Didn't ask how much, but I bet you'll get what you pay for, instead of filling the pockets of some local Ford dealer!

IMO you can't compare a Shelby GT500 to any Saleen, Roush, etc. You can't beat a factory car that has what the Shelby has. Dollar to dollar if you pay say $55K for a Shelby GT500 comparing it to a Saleen below:

http://saleen.com/s281_e_msrp.htm

You are spending $75K on a car that still has a 4.6 in it. If you take the Shelby GT500 and want something special get the limited edition 40th anniversery Shelby and pay the extra $10K to get a car that is going to be worth alot more than a Saleen.

http://shelbyautos.com/content/40thGT500.pdf

Again this is just my opinion :)
