I am taking delivery on a Heritage within two weeks and the VIN number's last digits are not as high as some of the cars I have seen on Ebay. I felt a later car would have some of the problems resolved at the factory. Suspension failer, tranaxle etc. Any help?

Regardless of not having any more problems, doesn't the VIN # tell you what month and year it was manufactured? I would really like some help with this. Supposedly my car has not arrived at the dealers yet but the VIN number he gave me seems much lower than some of the other VIN #'s I've seen on Ebay. does anyone know when the first Heritage models rolled off the assembly line? Thanks for your help.

Maybe your dealer got an allocation from someone else and it's a low number.

The VIN number DOES NOT not tell you month & year, however, that info is on the door sticker.

VIN & GT Info

You can take the "easy" way and call the GT hotline. They will be able to tell you everything you'll need to know about your vin.

Actually the year of you vehicle is the 8th digit from the end!
xxxxxxxxx5y402000 would mean the car is an '05. The last six of the vin is the sequential build number of that particular vehicle. The first nine digits relate to the plant the car was built in, transmission, motor etc. I'm not positive of the exact meaning of the first nine as far as which digit means what, but you wanted the year. Spirit is right about the door tag showing the month also!!! Dan

FWIW, my car is 1602, (2006 CAR) and the build month was July, 06. Maybe this will give you a frame of reference?

I own a mid-year 2005 GT (last four digits are 1727) and a 2006 Heritage, (last four digits are 0629). Note that every year, the last four digits start fresh again. The eigth number from the right represents the year of the car. If you are buying a Heritage you have no worries, as all 2006 cars are bullet-proof. My mid-year 2005 car is also a trouble free car. I just installed the transaxle cooler myself on the new 2006, and find that both cars are nearly identical with all the updates. The only difference is that my 2005 car has the jewel-like billet, CNC machined "A-arms" that were installed as a fix before they contracted with a new vendor for the cast parts. So I guess that makes my 2005 a little better than the 2006. So, don't worry about the VIN, even if your car ended in ...6Y400001, you still would be buying a car that had over 2000 cars preceeding it on the production line. Hope this helps. :wink

Everyone has been most helpful. PL50*Jeff Said that I could call the GT hotline. Does anyone have that number?
Also I know that people do not want to reveal too much info about themselves but showing the city you live in would be helpful for finding out if there are other GT owners nearby and could help if we wanted to compare upgrades etc. Are the newer cars coming equiped with the wired bolts for the transaxle problem? Thanks,
