There was a big piece of the carbon fiber fender still stuck in the back of the GT from that other car when they got to the pits. Incredibly they got the car rebuilt and back on the track in about 1 hour. They were four laps ahead when this happened. From my calculations, they were making up enough time per lap to have caught the leaders and won the race if the engine had not given in.
What an incredible team! What an experience!

I was under the impression that getting hit in the rear was the issue however from the video it appears that the Ford GT had already had an issue and the getting hit in the rear resulted after.and becuse it was sitting there nearly dead.

Whats did I miss

Thank you

Could that have been when the oil issue reared it's ugly head? (Or was that oil issue with #61?)

From what I understand, and it is very hard to see in the video, but apparently the car in front/ side spun and bumped into the GT causing it to spin and stall. :frown leaving it for a target in the path of the car that hit from behind. If you look closely there are several cars around the GT that were able to keep rolling. You can also see Matech looking at the damage to the right front of the car when it was in the pits from the car that hit them causing the spin.
Sorry, in this video you can see it.

thanks for sharing that, I hadnt seen that before. Clearly a stalled GT (no headlamps) till the hit - one hell of a bump start

Thank you

This makes how/why the Ford GT was hit in the rear much easier to understand
